Hi

I have a ps3 fat model(CECHL04)(ofw ~4.20) but the blu ray drive is missing. When i open it first time the update screen come up but stuck at ~56% (error 8002F14E).

I want to replace the blu ray drive and i read online that you need a blu ray Drive for your model and logic board(?). I also read something about remarry?

The problem also is that i search on ebay and nobody sell blu ray drive replacement for my model. Most of the products are are for KEM-400AAA (i don't understand how i can see that for my model)

Also can i somehow bypass the update and use E3 Flasher so i will have not to buy a blu ray drive.

Any help is very much appreciate.

Only option is to get CFW installed, what you need is to downgrade ten remarry BD drive and to do so you need hardware flasher, you will NOT be able to update console with broken BD logic board if u r on OFW ;) , you can try do as well other way use hardware flasher and patch dump then install noBD CFW ;) either way you NEED hardware flasher to dump flash for patching purposes would recommend teensy2.0++.

I have a couple more questions.

1./ I have to downgrade with E3 Flasher or teensy2.0++ and then install a cfw and later ten remarry BD drive?
2./ If i do the first ps3 will not get stuck at update progress? Right now it is already stuck, would't that affect the progress?
3./ Teensy 2.0++ is the same(~) as a E3 Flasher?
4./ With cfw i don't have necessary to install a blu ray drive to play game?

Thanks you for your answers.

1. not much of a difference teensy2.0++ or E3, but E3 is not so reliable as more and more I hear cry "used E3 and now my console is dead"
2. no , as it's stuck because of OFW limitations.
3. No and yes , it's hardware flasher, but is open source and need soldering
4. No you don't need BD drive to play games , but still is needed to make dumps of your genuine games to HDD

CEHCH L : sata BD drive.

The only way to jailbreak that model is TO CONNECT A SIMILAR BD DRIVE to the mobo and install a NO-BD cfw.

NO-BD means you can use your ps3 without a bd drive after installed, NOT that you can install it without bd drive.

No matter if that SATA BD UNIT you connected belongs to another PS3.

You can not bypass the CFW installation without a BD drive(or at least a healthy controller mobo only) connected.

After you install a NO BD CFW you can disconnect that DRIVE/CONTROLLER and proceed as usual on any CFW PS3.

I made two fat L last week, one of them without BDDRIVE, just used the other console s bddrive to install the nobd cfw and thats all.

Just be aware that no all the games can run without bd drive controller(native/remarried) connected, so some games will take many attempts to launch(pes16) and another just run well(fifa16) and some of them just never will run w/o the native/remarried bd drive.
The only manager able to run the games is MM.

I suggest to intall FAN CONTROLLER too to avoid overheating.

The e3 is better when use the linker, soldering to the mobo, that is safer for FAT models, you dont need to force cpu and gpu to acces to the data, reducing the YLOD risk. Dont think the E3 clip is the easier way.

If you are not skilled enought just pay for it or study all this patiently.

Good to know I had no occasion to do L console , I wonder do you need only for first time or all times if u update CFW ?

Thanks , i missed that point.

YOU NEED A BD/CONTROLLER CONNECTED EVERY TIME YOU UPDATE the system, because the update is always the same thing, with or without it, but stuck when no bdcontroller is connected.

But if you use MM it will patch your future games, so no need of updating anymore, stay on 4.80 NOBD and done. And disable internet connection, to prevent ofw installation.

I ve made hundreds of fat jailbreaks, but every year is more difficult to find a good bdcontroller to connect, specially the sata ones at least in my country.

IMPORTANT DETAIL : if you find/buy a used bd unit, no need to disconnect it after the NOBD cfw installation. Still is a not native/remarried unit, so it will be ignored after that. Thats why you need a nobd cfw to run games/tools, but you can update your cfw when you want or just keep it in there.

To remarry that bd unit you have to downgrade to 3.55 and take care of many details to have it as a native unit.

Half-true.

If you have your own bd controller ruined, of course you have to take it out, thats why you need another GOOD controller board connected to update.

But lets state this: Is IMPOSSIBLE to update without a good controller board or a complete bddrive connected on fat models. If you start from this point never will be confused.

And this specific case are about a fat console without any part of the bddrive.

WHY this never happen to a slim console ???

EASY, because the BD logic board is embedded on the motherboard and better protected. Usually if bd mecanisms are damaged, the controller board remains safe (usually). Thats why you dont need another bd unit connected on a slim console, if the logic on the mobo is good and the bd unit is not badly damaged, dont touch the connected native bddrive, just install a cfw and enjoy.

BUT i ve found on one slim that the native bd unit was failing and causing the update didnt work, so i connected another bdunit to complete the update, and after that reconnected its native unit. Even with the logic board healthy, update couldnt complete because of that extrange failure of the native bd unit (i didnt checked it). And had had to install a NOBD cfw, to reconnect its own damaged bdunit in that console. So the combinations of errors could lead to a no-update situation, but that is easier to solve on slim models.

But then if logic is good then what is point of having nobd cfw then is rather pointless ;) no point installing nobd cfw if laser is dead , from what i could gather in release notes it should update with faulty BD PCB ;)
