As planned, today PlayStation 4 hacker Marcan of Fail0verflow covered how they reverse-engineered Sony's PS4 console via FreeBSD / Sandbox to install PS4 Linux on it at Chaos Computer Club (CCC) 2016 alongside a Portal 2 Steam (older Demo / Guide) PS4 demonstration video below on Firmware 4.05!

According to @Joonie of Team Rebug, PlayStation 4 developer @flatz got PS4 Linux running on Firmware 4.05 day 1 too! (y)

While fail0verflow stated that due to the 'drama' that comes along with it they aren't going to be the ones to provide PS4 exploits that may lead to backups on the PlayStation 4 (especially after what Sony did to GeoHot), scene release group TRSi is still active and there are some very interesting things happening HERE so it's best to stay at 4.05 or below although not all developers agree.

I too have watched the 33c3 and found it very educative. While I may know nothing about the details and in-depth description layed out by Marcan, I finally got a confirmation that an exploit does exist on 4.05 and below. While all hope is not lost, it is indeed a matter of time before we get ourselves the golden CFW we've all been waiting for. Worst case scenario, nothing happens.

However, teams are taking initiatives and I have been observing this website since the beginning of 2016 and I have to say, if nothing happens now, it won't ever happen. Teams like TRSI, Universal Team and Rebug are giving me hope. Although I don't know how much of a truth is in their posts, but still keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks everyone and PSXHAX for making such a lively website.

4.50 is only available to beta testers that's it. If you weren't selected you can't just use the fw. So neither of you are wrong except the fact the word beta
yes, but when 4.50 is released everybody will be able to run linux, (unless someone leaks it and sony patch it) but until then its a waiting game
