Many may recall the PS4 Firmware 4.01 Jailbreak by Chaitin Tech, their ROP Tool and the addition of Kaslr Support last year.

Following his PS4 4.0x WebKit Userland Exploit Documentation, JailbreakMe PS4 3.5x / 3.70 / 4.0x Exploit Ports and continuing research PlayStation 4 developer SpecterDev shared a tweet earlier today echoing Chaitin Tech's PS4 kernel exploit on 4.05 that was disclosed to Sony and patched in 4.06 official Firmware this past November.

The news comes after qwertyoruiopz's PS4 4.50 Kernel R/W Access announcement, PS4 4.5x Pwnage and confirmation of PS4 4.55 Dumped.

While @SpecterDev already stated he can't release it and as a result decided to remove the tweet, at least PS4 Developers who have been collaborating and examining it can rest assured that Chaitin Tech and Sony aren't the only ones privy now... here's to hoping someone else will also run across it and decide to share it with the scene.

From the PSXHAX Shoutbox for those following:

Appreciate the reply, really. Sad to hear you're not making any money covering the scene to the extent you have been, and I do think you deserve some reward for your efforts.

As for the devs, I agree they don't owe anyone anything for their time and effort, however, I don't think regular people like myself owe them anything either, not when they keep the good stuff for themselves. Sure a lot of progress has been made, but what good is it giving these devs praise and encouragement when we get nothing in return? If they were willing to release something of substance it'd be different, but they aren't, instead they make hints about what they're keeping for themselves just teasing those who follow the scene what they have that we don't, and won't.

If praise isn't enough to release something, perhaps money is. I'm thinking far more would happen if we were to start a prize pool or something, allowing users to donate whatever they can to a pool that will be awarded to the first team to release an actual CFW. You know, make it competitive, make it worth their while, that way it could attract a lot more devs to the scene if the pool grew large enough, maybe only then will we see teams actually release something for a change.

I would put $100 into a kickstarter for ps4 cfw. I think a lot of people would put money in. Problem is trusting someone to administer it.

This website is entertaining even if not much of anything has come out of the ps4 scene in 4 years. If you're just waiting for a public jb or cfw, no point in checking here everyday. It will be front page news everywhere. I even think geohot was on CNN back in the day.

HEy it could be worse, look at the xbone scene.... ::crickets:: :ROFLMAO:

I can also donate few hundreds. But there should be term, for example 2018 01 01. If nothing is released, money goes back to those who donated.

PSXHAX if you need a help on that let me know.

Thanks for the ideas/offers guys, money is something I wouldn't get involved in personally as many have been down that road before and it's often never a happy ending to everyone's satisfaction.

I'm sure if the PS4 devs were after funding they would start a kickstarter page themselves similar to what Yifan Lu is currently doing for one of his projects.

Chances are nobody wants to go that route due to the legalities involved, and since most Devs are against backups the last thing they want to do is give Sony a traceable money trail leading back to their real identities that could be used against them as Sony tried doing with GeoHot's PSN and PayPal accounts while jeopardizing their careers and good names in real life.

For now we can continue to give them support while waiting patiently for the next 'big development' to occur in hopes it will be for consoles above 1.76 <3

Starting their own kickstarters would never work, the point of making it competitive is for them to come to you to win one pool.

To win the pool would be simple, they only have to include a bitcoin address somewhere in the CFW, say as the background of the dashboard and they can receive the money anonymously, no tracing possible. The rewards they reap is money, if they want to attach a name to it at their own risk so be it.
