Yesterday we saw a brief guide covering PS3 Games with Older LIC.DAT Titles, and @ShadixAced shared a link HERE of a PlayStation 3 game compilation listing that can be injected with backups using PARAM.SFO license directory modifications with update patches running on OFW 4.75 through 4.81. (-8

To quote from in1975, roughly translated: Games running on OFW 4.75-4.81

If you want to prepare the specified games for the console on the console, then see below: The method, how to make the game work, is pretty simple. The game should have an official patch (and how else will we launch it from the internal disk?).

The patch is being unpacked, the contents of USRDIR, except for EBOOT.BIN and updated files (if any) are taken from the disk version. PARAM.SFO (from the disk) is edited. Change the Category from DG to HG and App Version to the patch version.

I tried with Prince of persia and Demons souls and those games doesnt work.

Its because i do 2 folders? (BLUS12345GAME, BLUS12345)
I will try with sonic unleashed, MGS4 and COD MW

You are free to try any game from the link above. But, can you try Alone In The Dark [BLES00422] [BLUS30232]. Steps are also mentioned there. Only step missed is you need to keep the PARAM.SFO from PS3_GAME and update app version alone from the update patch's PARAM.SFO.

Can't find 'Alone in the Dark' download links. Tried 'Burnout Paradise' game but since I can't find 'BLES00455', I tried 'BLES00462' but it's in russian language and I can confirm the game WORKS!! well with this method on PS3 OFW 4.81.

Neither GTA IV nor GTA IV Complete edition will work using solely the injection methods; tested already. You'll go back to the XMB after launching the game and starting the main game or expansions.

Yeah, Burnout paradise will work , it's in the list of working games. We should try games not in the list.
 
Here's a quote of catalinnc's post with the method details included:

this list of 149 games is special made by me for 481 ofw users... some of the games are confirmed working and some of them are also confirmed not working... beside them i found lots and lots of other games that may be working...

for most of them all you have to do is:

1. extract the patch and paste the USRDIR folder from patch over the USRDIR from the game...

2. change the category of PARAM.SFO of the game from DG to HG...

3. optional you can also change the app_ver of PARAM.SFO of the game to match the one of the update...

4. delete the LICDIR from PS3_GAME if exists...

5. rename PS3_GAME of the game with the title_id from PARAM.SFO of the game (ex: PS3_GAME to BLES00222 - sometimes add GAME at the end like BLES00222GAME)...

6. inject the new renamed folder in your ps3 ofw backup...

7. some games may need an original game disk inserted (any game!) or special attention to make them work...
p.s. this method is not limited to 481 ofw... it can be used on lower ofw too...
 
I've tried Alone in the Dark, but every time only black screen and jump back to XMB

Maybe the Demo will help, but i can't find it to download

Those games weren't personally tested by him; just compiled based off of the fact that they have an update and no Lic.dat present. By the instructions, these games from the list don't work (tested already):
  • Bioshock
  • Fallout 3 (Both)
  • Far Cry 2
  • GTA IV (Both)
  • Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe
  • Overlord 2
  • Resistance 2
  • Saints Row 2
  • Sonic Unleashed
  • Soul Calibur IV
  • Street Fighter IV
  • WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009
Pretty sure at least half of the list itself doesn't work. Unfortunately, having an update + having no Lic.dat + being from 2009 or earlier doesn't guarantee it'll play.
