It's been quite awhile since Sony's last PS3 Firmware update, but on this Halloween night they have officially released PS3 System Software / Firmware 4.81 update which once again improves system stability. Trick or treat?! :pumpkin:

About PlayStation 3 system software update version 4.81

PS3 system software version 4.81 was released on November 1, 2016. Version 4.81 adds or updates the following features.

New for 4.81
  • This system software update improves the quality of the system performance.
To quote from Sony's PlayStation AU Site via Enter the Dragon Punch: An update to the PlayStation 3 system software was released on 1st November 2016. If you update your PS3 system, the system software version will be 4.81 and the following features will be updated.

In order to download PS3 system software version 4.81, you will need a minimum 200MB of free space on either the PS3 Hard Disk Drive (System Update) or on removable storage media (PC Update).

This system software update improves the quality of the system performance.

Note:
  • Depending on the software title, you may not be able to play without first updating the PS3 system software.
  • Do not perform updates using any data other than the official update data provided by Sony Computer Entertainment over a network or on disc media, and do not perform updates by methods other than those described in the product documentation or in this site. If an update is performed using data from another source, by another method, or with a PS3 system that has been altered or modified in any way, the PS3 system may not operate properly and may not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions may void the PS3 system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Computer Entertainment.

That sounds correct as multiMAN only runs on Custom Firmware not Official Firmware... if you updated to 4.81 OFW instead of CFW you would need to examine the options (downgrading, ODE, DTU method, etc) depending on your PS3's model.
 
it works if i replace official firmware with custom firmware same version or i need to downgrading first then update to custom firmware.

anw thanks finally im found the problem, im new at this :D
 
It will work when you are back on custom firmware, and yes you do need to downgrade/patch the flash to be able to get back onto custom firmware.

You will need to use a flasher, either e3 flasher, teensy++ or progskeet depending on what model you have.

but my ps3 Already running 4.7x CFW, i need to update the firmware because FIFA 17 wont running 4.80 firmware below. after i update the firmware to 4.81 my multiman wont running it say error 80010017. do i still need to flasher?

im reading some article its tell 3.55 OFW are hackable. can i just downgrading to 3.55 OFW? then i update to 4.81 CFW? thanks.
 
Sony blocked downgrading via software above 3.55 firmware, so because you're currently on 4.81 ofw a hardware flasher is required.

You were running CFW but then you installed 4.81 OFW, so yes you need a flasher.

Yes 3.55 is hackable, and yes you can downgrade to 3.55 and then install 4.81 CFW from there. To do that you will need a flasher.
 
Am not happy at all when I want to archive something on my ps3 is there dead I request for. Update OFW 3.50 to install CFW 3.50, no one give the links out.
 
You'll have to do some research as 3.50 is antiquated these days, try looking into Rebug CFW on a more current Firmware version such as 4.82.
