App2USB / AppToUSB by Stooged: A Modification of PKG2USB for PS4

I will post this as a separate thread from the PS4 PKG2USB as the 2 payloads vary and it saves confusion.

Original Post: I was playing around with the ext0 mount and recreating the file structure that would be there if the pkg was installed to external storage.

There is a trick I found where if you copy the CUSAXXXXX folder from /user/app to /mnt/ext0/user/app and then unplug the hdd and plug it back in it causes the ps4 to do a repair and then the game is recognized as installed on external storage and from there there are other issues.

BUT with the great work SiSTRo has done in PKG2USB with the symlinks its a lot easier to manage with exfat and just normal USB.

So building on his PKG2USB and symlinks I modified what I was working on for the ext0 mount to work with the usb0 or usb1 and symlinks.

This payload searches the entire /user/app folder and copies all installed fpkg games to usb from the system drive and creates the symlinks like SiSTRo has kindly shown us the ability to do.

If you want to target a single game not the whole folder use PKG2USB.

If you install more games just run the payload again and it will copy any new games to the USB and so on.

With symlinks you are making a link to a directory so you want to pick which USB port to have the hdd on and keep it on that same port or the links will point to the wrong directory. USB0 is what I use.

@seanp2500 I got the --Seagate STEB8000100 Expansion 8TB Desktop External Hard Drive USB 3.0 I will attempt doing this whole process of moving all games from internal to the external so they can be ran from there tonight (couldn't do last night )

@DEFAULTDNB , @Lidor Baum - i currently have my ps4 internet connection pointing to the exploit page not at my pc --> what i meant earlier is i will have to point the ps4 to my computer to be able to run this app2usb bin. ((i will just need to have the latest bin files or playground? whatever you call it, on my pc tonight to be able to run the HEN 1.4 and then this App2Usb bin.))

I'll post late tonight when i get home from work if the usb transfer all works etc. (hope so cause i cant install anymore games lol)

You dont run hen before the apptousb.
Hen is only needed to play and install games.

@stooged roger that sir. so basically if i change the ip address on the ps4 to point to the pc....and then just use netcat etc to load the app2usb.bin - is that corrrect? or do i need 4.55 exploit files (like idc or specter to be ran first??)

Launch original exploit and send payload.

You have to run the exploit to load the payload receiver and then you can send the apptousb payload using what ever method you like.

no luck getting ps4 serve to run on my Samsung s8 last night? So I couldn't run the apptousb payload. On the ps4 I entered in the web browser http://192.168.43.1:8080/. And I kept getting system is not vulnerable! Stop JavaScript on this page orrrr cannot connect to the server..

So after that I tried to connect to my pc and run the exploit the old fashioned way but it wouldn't send the payload through via exploit host.exe and then it asks what payload to send) etc it would time out or connection error

So couldn't try it out tonight guys... sorry. I gotta find a way to load it somehow

looks like you are using the wrong exploit

first workout what firmware you are on 4.05 or 4.55 and then use the app that's for that version.

I transfered my games to the ext. hdd but if I pause a game for 2 mins the ext. hdd runs into sleeping mode and the game crashes. Any ideas how to fix letting the ext. hdd go into sleeping mode? No chance to change it in hdd FW... any ideas highly appreciated
