Following the Mast1c0re PS4 / PS5 Userland Exploit and PS2 ELF / Network Game Loader Updates comes a Mast1c0re USB Game Loader WIP (Work in Progress) demo video via Twitter from Security Consultant & Researcher McCaulay (BuyMeACoffee Page :coffee:) of the Vulnerability Research & Exploit Development blog McCaulay.co.uk. :geek:

 Since my post last fall and Sony's announcement earlier this year, I'm pleased to report that my local Walmart finally has PS5 consoles in stock right behind glass in the electronics department... so those in the market for a next-gen PlayStation 5 may want to recheck your local Wally World as well.

<3 Finally, those interested in supporting McCaulay's ongoing PS4Scene and PS5Scene developments can do so on BuyMeACoffee.com, with his progress updates also available directly on Twitter as _mccaulay including some related Tweets below:

1/ Currently has FAT32 filesystem implemented, however this limits files to 4GB and many PS2 games are over that. I plan to try instead implement the exFAT or NTFS filesystem to support larger files.
2/ Load speed is not instant, as the game needs to be copied from the USB to HDD before playing. It should however be faster than most peoples network speed.
3/ The USB file structure currently looks like this. However, if we can figure out loading custom emulation configuration files / lua files this will likely change to one directory per game.
4/ A popup dialog to ask which game to play is not ideal, however it is currently the best and easiest way I can think of for selecting a game from the USB without doing it externally over the network.
2.8GB, though the load speed was faster in the video. The actual speed it took to copy this game was a minute or two
mast1c0re - USB ELF Loader and Game Loader (exFAT)
1/ USB loading now supports exFAT. Projects shown include loading ELF files from USB. Then a USB Game loader ELF is loaded which loads games from the USB.
2/ USB ELF files are copied on to the USB in the "ELFs" directory
3/ Games are copied into the "Games" directory, with one directory per game
4/ The game directory contains the .ISO and an optional .conf file containing the emulation config (See PS2_Classics_Emulator_Compatibility_List)
5/ Lua scripting support is currently not an option. Additionally, I am still working on trying to get PS5 support working with the USB integration

Ps5's in stock, who would have thunk this day would come?

If crypto prices had not crashed the Ps5 would still be MIA. Personally I think I'll wait for Ps5 Slim.

Does this offer any difference in PS2 emulation over the mainstream PS4 way using per-game emulators? As in the way it emulates, using a generalized emulator or is it still using one of the game specific emulators we currently base PS4's PS2 emulation upon?
