I come from the PS3 and would like to know if the PS2 emulator on the PS3 or PS4 is better for the PS2 games. With the PS3 I am explicitly NOT talking about the emulator where real PS2 hardware is used, but the 'PS2 Classics' emulator from the Slim/Superslim.

I don't know how it works on the PS4 but on the PS3 there were either official or custom configs that fixed bugs for the respective games. And how is it with the PS5? Is the PS5 able to play the 'PS2 games for the PS4' and if not, does it have a better emulator than the PS3 and PS4?

I've mostly been interested in PS4 homebrew for the sake of PS2 emulation (playing a lot of the Megami Tensei games I missed out on as a kid), but reading about things like PT being brought back and other titles being backported is really exciting! I'm looking forward to the continued development of PS4 CFW!

I got a doubt. So I borrowed TLOU2 from my friend for dumping purpose, when dumping the entire game it failed miserably at french.psarc extraction (I didn't have the french language files) so I tried some methods like pausing the dumping (caused a crash) then re Pppwning, make a copy of the english.psarc and changing it to french.psarc and then redumping. Nothing worked.

So I got an idea, what if I just dump the patch file for fw 11 then get the base game compatible with Fw 7.55, make the new dump into fpkg and Install. Will it work?

@pppwnguy not sure if you're joking lol. But that pkg is basically just a ps2 rom wrapped into an in-house ps2 emulator. Not an actual port or remaster or something (would be kinda cool if they – the devs – did that though).
