Following the first Spine PS4 Emulator update for 2022 and his OpenTyrian PS4 PKG Port earlier this month, PS4Scene developer @Cpasjuste made available a PFBNeo (pEMU) Portable FinalBurn Neo Emulator for PS4 PKG port that supports multi-platform emulation including Neo-Geo, CPS1 / CPS2 / CPS3, Sega Megadrive, Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear and PC-Engine (TG-16) games Jailbroken PS4 console owners can relive and enjoy! 🕹️

Download: pEMU PKGs (Latest Version) / GIT

Spoiler: Depreciated

This comes proceeding the WebMSX PS5 Browser Demo, although @oneman123 (aka ZiL0G80) states on Twitter it probably doesn't run Metal Gear for MSX due to missing mappers... but notes the rootdir to transfer ROMs via PS4 FTP to is \data\pfba\ or you can modify \data\pfba\config.cfg to add a custom path according to the README.MD file.

🏴‍☠️ If anyone wishes to share some Game ROMsets (Update: PEMU: PFBNeo / PNES / PSNES Full Game ROMSets with Pics) for use with PFBNeo / pEMU 5.0 PS4, you may add them in the comments below using SPOILER tags like so:

@Cpasjuste
I have found a bug with Alien 3: Gun arcade rom.

There is no input registered to move the reticle, it stays in the center of the screen despite pushing D-pad buttons or moving both analogue sticks.

Edit: I have found another bug that appears in all racing games that use analogue stick for steering:

If you hold the stick in one direction (for instance: right) then quickly change direction (left) and continue to hold it in the new direction it will keep steering right. The inputs will continue to be reversed until you let go of the stick and push it again.

Games with this issue:
  • Power Drift (Sega Classics)
  • Outrun (Sega Classics)
  • Chequered Flag (Konami Classics)
Some games have another similar issue whereby acceleration and braking is mapped to up and down on the left analogue stick which also gets used for steering, this in combination with the above bug makes most racing games impossible to play.

Another (minor bug):

Quitting to GUI in Rad Rally causes emulator crash/blue screen/PS error.

yeah, it was quite funny, that you said, images are missing, as those links from the first page are linked to my uploads, so they are the same. :)

i really love your feedback, i know, there is a problem with custom asining buttons. i think, i was told, there is an issue with a mortal combat game.

i'll check your mentions, games, i'll gonna see, if it is the same on the switch.

It's working great with my mame romset

The frontend looks clean and easy but it's missing 2 important things the rapid fire and cheat menu

Works like a charm. Excellent job, friend. Also, @eightiesmod thank you for that amazing romset, it has tons of amazing games in it.

@Cpasjuste is it possible to change the black background for those of us who play in 4:3? It could be depending on the console, some kind of artwork as background. I don't know if we can also do this by uploading a .png file or something like that.

Updated the OP to pEMU 6.0, with the changes from Github below: pEMU 6.0

Notes

  • report bugs here
  • if coming from a version less than 6.0, you will need to delete all the "gamelist" xml files from the emulators data folders (and delete the "skins" folder too). The "gamelist" xml files format changed from this version, and they are now embedded in the platforms "romfs" (vpk, pkg, nro..). If they are found in the data folder then they will override the ones in "romfs", which is not what we want.
Changelog
  • common: add new emulator (pgen: genesis-plus-gx port)
  • common: update gamelists
  • common: fix preview images and videos links
  • ui: only show know files extensions in rom list
  • ui: fix favorites preview images and videos
  • input: add rotation support back (wip)
  • skins: enable font filtering back, remove big_preview skin
  • skins: add "config.cfg.override" file support for skin overriding
  • skins: code and data cleanup
  • skins: improve scaling
  • psnes: fix crackling audio in some games (zelda, ff6...)
  • vita: remove slow pvr support (fix framerate on a lot of games)
  • vita: fix input rotation (wip)
  • switch: refactor inputs (use sdl2 gamecontroller and new sdl2 automatic single joycons handling)
  • switch: update buttons gfx
  • windows: fix compilation, code improvements
  • android: add android support (wip)
  • and more...

Updated the OP to pEMU 6.1, with the changes from Github below: pEMU 6.1
