Poll: Will Sony Unveil PS5 / PlayStation 5 in 2018, 2019 or Beyond?

Since our last site poll on Private PS4 GameSharing Methods we've added a PS5 News section to the forums to cover all the analyst predictions, rumors and speculation leading up to the release of Sony's PlayStation 5 next-generation video gaming console!

Based on the results from an earlier poll the majority of members here believe Sony will indeed make a PS5 to compete with Microsoft's XBox Project Scorpio, and so the question in today's poll is... Will Sony Unveil PS5 / PlayStation 5 in 2018, 2019 or Beyond?

As reported Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong expects Sony to release its next-generation PlayStation by the second half of 2018, however, others believe technology advancements wouldn't justify another console from Sony until at least 2019.

I think November-December 2018 , Pro nothing change. 5 years it's good time. As was once said, ps3 generation will not repeat again.

Nice way to keep the site slightly lively. But how can ps5 top ps4 though? Coz graphics and hardware are already so strong in ps4. If you see between ps4 and ps3 there was huge gap in almost everything. The ps4 is so much satisfactory, and that much closer to the real life visuals.

How can ps5 be better at something that already produces realistic graphics? Sure bring on the 4k and 12k but other than that I don't think the software will change much.

Look: No, after 2020 because PS4 is only 5 years old. And PS4 Pro just released last November 2016. Nah. It will be 10 years lifespan. PS5 won't be here until after 2022, obviously. Silly rumours!

In my opinion some of the advantages of Console over PC was exactly the NO NEED of each time upgrading your hardware like in PC (purchase a new graphics card at each 2 years, upgrade memory, upgrade other parts, and so on).

Consoles on the past they were the best place to place, it was just insert the game cart (disc), turn on the console and then Play. But the way consoles companies are doing now, forcing customers to purchase a new console so often to accompain the evolution of games, indeed, PC is now a better option for gaming.

I really dont get people that want a ps5 ASAP. are you really that eager to buy yet another console or being unable to play newer games?

devs arent able to take everything out of the ps4 much less the pro. people these days want newer consoles just because.

if you want to have a couple of pixels more, or some effects that you probably wont even notice in the 1st place, go buy a pc. dont make millions of users have to spend money on yet another expensive (and harder to hack) console.

also people that want it so ps4 jb is released, i dont think that would change anything.

that being said I think the earlier would be 2020, but the later, the better.

Wouldn't be surprised if a PS5 was released in 2018, but it sounds very unlikely. A handheld sounds more likely.

Even Sony cant be that much stupid. Example 2000-Ps2 the best release date and console ever. 2020-Ps5 seems like a good idea before that.. It would be dead product and I swear that I wont buy that crap if they cant at least upgrade till 2020 and make competition with Scorpio.

We have time, All we need more ps4 games and more better hardware for 2020 (PS5)
