PS3 recognizing external hard drive issues help

I'm having problems with ps3 recognizing external hard drive. It's 3tb can I partition it to smaller and having ps3 recognize it?

It's most likely formatted in NTFS, you need to format it to exFat and yes you can partition a smaller size if you want

I've formatted to fat32 using different tools. Still same thing doesn't recognize it

I think 2To is the max a PS3 can detect. I did read before that multi partition don't get detected so just be sure your first partition is 2 To .

Is important that external hdd is MBR and not GPT, because PS3 and also unfortunally PS4, doesn't support GPT Partition.

So check this.

GPT Partition can be over 2TB, MBR can be max 2TB.

I've used EaseUS partition successfully for this problem. FAT32 only works. If you are using ISOs on the external drive, make sure to use a PS3 ISO splitter because FAT32 has single file size limits.

I use a WD 2TB NTFS with .iso in PS3ISO folder, in my PS3 Slim Rebug 4.82.1.

I have it in a Salcar Usb 3.0 Enclosure. Not needed 3.0 but i use it also for pc, and anyway this box, works fine, another box from china, doesn't works very well, too slow with ps3 but also with pc. (so the box is important for the speed, sometimes about recognition.)

I didn't like iso split because didn't know if online can be more risk than .iso in a single file.

can u explain, cause i did partitions on a 3tb hdd and ps3 still doesnt recognize them.

It sucks just FTP and enjoy up to 100MB-second

I didn't know that there was a limit to the size of the HD on a ps3. Ya learn something everyday.
