Following the recent webMAN 1.46n and webMAN MOD 1.46.01 updates, PlayStation 3 multiMAN v04.81.02 developer @deank shared a PS3 sLaunch webMAN / webMAN MOD frontend preview 0.1 this weekend on his YouTube Channel with details, some demo videos and sMAN updates below. :extremelyhappy:

Download: slaunch_preview.zip (174 KB) / sman.sprx / sman_1.02.sprx (webMAN + sLaunch sMAN Plugin) / sMAN_1.00.zip (625 KB) / sMAN_1.01.zip (1.32 MB) / sMAN_1.02.zip (1.33 MB) / sMAN_1.05.zip (1.38 MB) / sMAN_1.07.zip (1.52 MB) / sMAN_1.08.zip (1.76 MB) / sMAN_1.10.zip (2.09 MB) / sMAN_1.11.zip (1.80 MB) / sMAN_1.12.zip (1.80 MB)

To quote from deank: It is just proof-of-concept, but if someone wishes to give it a try: http://deanbg.com/slaunch_preview.zip

You'll have to add slaunch.sprx to your boot_plugins.txt. It requires this new webMAN, so you'll have to use both. After you get your games refreshed at least once sLaunch will pick them up. To start sLaunch from XMB hold the "START" button.

This is a preview version and it will only show 1 page of 10 games, although all are detected. When I'm ready with this new interface it can become part of webMAN, so there will be no need for separate plugin, but for PoC it is what it is.

IMPORTANT: THIS TEST VERSION WORKS ONLY IN 1920x1080p/i (FullHD). Do not try it if your PS3 is set to different output.

It can be a frontend to webMAN or webMAN MOD as long it finds "/dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp/slaunch.bin" which is a simple file with "NAME", "ICON", "PATH". Once you load a game it sends the request to webMAN/webMAN MOD. :)

Also from deank, to quote: As promised the other day: sLaunch 0.1 preview

I hope you like it. If used, it removes the need to use system plugins for mounting games. Also there is no need for "My Games" in the Game column. sLaunch can be started from XMB by pressing a button - loads in 1 second and it is just 11KB. It is very simple to use and fast.

And from aldostools, to quote: This is webMAN MOD 1.46.02 full edition with support for the preview release of sLaunch: http://aldostools.org/temp/test/webftp_server_full.sprx

 Update: From deank, to quote: The good thing about sMAN is that it doesn't require large amounts of memory no matter how many games you have. It can handle 2000, 3000, 5000 games even.

sMAN is working a bit faster than sLaunch (at least it looks that way).

From now on it will be availabe at: http://deanbg.com/sman.sprx

In few mins I'll add grouping of content in it, so it will be more useful.

Note: If you decide to use sman.sprx - remove webftp_server.sprx and slaunch.sprx from your boot_plugins.txt. It is not possible to use them at the same time.

 Update #2: From deank comes sMAN v1.01 / v1.02 (linked above) with the changelogs as follows:

sMAN v1.01:
  • Added "Setup" option in side-menu
  • Removed xml generation - no need for custom category_game.xml anymore
  • Removed xai_plugin/idle_plugin usage
  • Added x2 upscale for small images/covers (w/h < 336)
  • Added indication of current group mode (PS3 1 / xxx) under title name/path
  • Removed "My Games" entry from XMB - hold [START] to launch sMAN
sMAN v1.02:
  • Changed netiso/rawseciso implementation (external) - use plugin slot #0
  • Fixed crash when trying to load another PS1 title after one is played (ntfs/net)
 Update #3: Another revision from deank brings sMAN v1.05 with the changelog as follows, to quote:

sMAN v1.05:
  • Use [L2+R2] to start sMAN
  • The sprx is bigger (but actually uses less memory) because it contains some glued resources
  • It will use standard PS1/PS2/PSP/PS3/Blu-ray/DVD icons when there is no proper cover/image available
  • This version of the plugin must be named sman.sprx and loaded from (in this exact order):
Code:
/dev_hdd0/sman.sprx or
/dev_hdd0/plugins/sman.sprx or
/dev_flash/vsh/module/sman.sprx
otherwise it won't work. The first match of these three will be loaded. sMAN resource files are located in /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp/res folder. There are six icons, background and ntfs/net external plugins. You can play with them until the next reboot when they will be restored to defaults.

NB: Renaming it to webftp_server.sprx and other stupid things are not supported. :)

 Update #4: Deank updated sMAN again (linked above) with some more revision changes detailed below.

sMAN v1.06 / v1.06n / v1.07:
  • Some important parts of the plugin are rewritten and optimized to reduce stack usage
  • Returned another 112KB back to fg vsh :) (2316KB free - was 1920KB a month ago without ntfs :) so about 396KB less used)
  • Changed sman.bin to support longer game names/paths/icons - a rescan will be initiated
  • Cleaned some code (about 1000 lines gone after the optimization)
  • Loading games speed improved (at least the perceived speed)
  • sMAN will show the name of the loaded game as popup message (not the filename)
  • sMAN is now properly unloaded when requested (no zombie or dead threads should remain - Joonie can you check?)
  • It supports up to 2000 titles (games/bd/dvd) now
Thinks look really stable at the moment.

 Update #5: Deank updated sMAN to v1.08n (linked above) with some more revision changes detailed below.

sMAN v1.08n:
  • Added [x] XMB Integration option in setup for people who like the older xmb/xml style (off by default)
  • Improved scan speed from ntfs/internal hdd when extracting icons/sfo
  • sMAN resources in /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp/res will not be overwritten if exist (at least until the next version)
  • Supports up to 2000 titles (even in XMB Integration mode)
  • Still uses the same amount of memory (~2300KB free while idle)

 Update #6: Deank updated sMAN to v1.10n (linked above) with the changes detailed below, to quote:

"In the latest sman.sprx update the internal web server will use threads to serve files/images content. It will no longer hold the whole www client thread and will release the resources immediatelly greatly improving performance and stability. Until now if you download something big via the web interface and then try to browse games or refresh sman would lock, but not anymore..

There were some issues with displaying images/files from network locations (ps3netsrv) using the webbrowser but it is now ok. There are also some other minor fixes. Network/ps3netsrv locations should now support about 3200 files (1600 ISO games + 1600 images for example).

p.s. sprx is updated again. If someone with a lot of network games can test it - let me know. I tested it with a folder with 9000 files and it handles 3200 to 3300, so it works. :)"
