PS4 External HDD unrecognized for 4.05 PKGs

Hi everyone,

My ps4 does not recognise my external HDD formatted in exfat when I try to install pkgs. My HDD is a Toshiba Canvio 2,5" 3TB 3.0, if that can help. Is this HDD not supported?

@lil0uuu I had the same issue. Download freeware AOMEI and change the HDD from GPT to MBR (master boot). This will solve it.

Also tried a USB flash stick?
Sometimes hdd's powered through the usb ports dont get enough juice

Thanks for the help. Actually I am on 4.05 and I try to install pkgs through an external HDD instead of a USB stick. Is that even possible?

Yes as long as its not NTFS formatted it should work. exFAT is the way to go.

If the HDD is visible on your PC and mounted with a drive letter you can check the file system to be sure. In my experience some usb powered drives just dont work on consoles.

Thank you @xtemegamr! You were right, that solved my problem. I had some difficulties to do it though because MBR cannot be done on partitions > 2TB...
