Following Sony's PS4 Beta 6.80 Preview PUP and the recent PS4 OFW 6.72 Update, those who received invites can now install the latest PS4 Firmware / System Software 7.00 Beta 2.00 build (3.00, 4.00 and 5.00 Betas also added below) and check out the latest features including increased party size (from 8 to 16 members) and System Level HDR Tuning Settings for Brightness and Darkness. :giggle:

:alert: As usual, those not registered in Sony's PlayStation Preview Program will not be able to install the PUP as it requires a valid PS4 license for installation... also DON'T UPDATE if you wish to use PS4 game backups and homebrew apps whenever a new jailbreak exploit arrives!

From the PS4 7.00 Beta invitation details, to quote: Be one of the first players to try out the new PS4 Party update, as part of the PlayStation Beta experience. Play, chat and connect with even more friends online, as we’re boosting Party sessions from eight to 16 players – this brand-new feature is due to release in System Software Update 7.00.

Performance for system updates is also being improved, meaning your PS4 won’t always need to restart after every update. Going forwards, select system software updates will automatically be installed after download if the [System Software Update Files] setting is switched on, found under:

[Settings] > [System] > [Auto Downloads]

If you participate in this Beta trial, you won’t be able to join the same Party or use Share Play with others who aren’t also participating in the trial. Once you’ve opted in to the trial, Parties that you’re able to join will have an asterisk (*) in front of the Party name.

Main features updated in this system software beta program version

The following changes have been made to (Party).
  • The maximum number of people who can join a party has been increased from 8 to 16.
  • Chat transcription has been added, and accessibility has been improved. While in a party use (PS4 Second Screen)* on your smartphone or other mobile device to convert party voice chat to text, or to read aloud text you enter to other party members. This feature works only in English and is available only on PS4 systems sold in certain regions.
  • Network connectivity has been improved.
  • Audio quality of voice chat has been improved.
* Use the latest version of PS4 Second Screen, available for download from Google Play or the App Store.

 And from WCCFTech.com on the PS4 Beta 7.00 additional features, to quote:

"There's another major addition that testers have discovered. PlayStation 4 owners with an HDR display will now be able to tune brightness and darkness at the system level, which is great news as there are plenty of games lacking a proper tuning feature. Early reports also suggest this affects applications such as Netflix, too."

You can call it any FW number you want. 10.0 sounds good. Probably wont be a new release from the scene til fall or even the PS5 comes out. thankfully have two units... 1 on 5.05 and 1 on 6.50. Hope it does come sooner than later though!

Man, I'm on like 10 different pills and I really like God of War and anything affiliated with it. I also like Spongebob and puppies. WELL, time for bed!

One way or another we can only wait, what determines the publication of the exploit??? Money? Willingness? Sony pressure? Or what?

Maybe a new exploit is just a fairy tale for children because no one can do it, i don't know, I'm just an observer...

Ok ok this is the news I've been looking for finally a forced update, the previous updates 6.51 - 6.72 have not been forced as you could still play online without updating which is personally why I think there has been no kex exploit due to the ability of hacking online, 7.00 will be forced due to the party size changes being built into the systems code.

This is a step close to kex exploit for sure, and like the ps4 update articles says don't update. There will never be a kex exploit for a version that can connect to online games due to most of the kernel exploiters being against online play hacking, which is why I think there hasn't been news recently and why sony hasn't forced updates for a while.

Sony was exploiting the exploiters morals, but this is just a theory we'll just have to wait and see once 7.00 comes out.

It would be good if we could just update to the beta and be able to downgrade back to 5.05. But I assume even if you could the downgrade would put you back on 6.xx

From 6.00 to 7.00 nothing changes , and sorry no kex is coming for 7.00 too; not that I am whining but I know it because of some friends
