PS4 Jailbreak Exploit by Chaitin Tech Echoes via SpecterDev

Many may recall the PS4 Firmware 4.01 Jailbreak by Chaitin Tech, their ROP Tool and the addition of Kaslr Support last year.

Following his PS4 4.0x WebKit Userland Exploit Documentation, JailbreakMe PS4 3.5x / 3.70 / 4.0x Exploit Ports and continuing research PlayStation 4 developer SpecterDev shared a tweet earlier today echoing Chaitin Tech's PS4 kernel exploit on 4.05 that was disclosed to Sony and patched in 4.06 official Firmware this past November.

The news comes after qwertyoruiopz's PS4 4.50 Kernel R/W Access announcement, PS4 4.5x Pwnage and confirmation of PS4 4.55 Dumped.

While @SpecterDev already stated he can't release it and as a result decided to remove the tweet, at least PS4 Developers who have been collaborating and examining it can rest assured that Chaitin Tech and Sony aren't the only ones privy now... here's to hoping someone else will also run across it and decide to share it with the scene.

Just get your money then why to post anything that you don't have courage to share. My only problem is if you don't want to give it for free then don't suck on it. Just give it to sony and enjoy. Posting it might be a hint to other devs working on the ps4. Sometimes there are things that only someone in the know would understand. What seems useless info to you might mean a lot to somebody else with the right knowledge.

He's released a lot, for example the 3.55 PS4 Playground and more recently all the JailbreakMe PS4 3.5x / 3.70 / 4.0x Exploit Ports.

PS4 scene devs are more concerned with things that may lead to backups as they don't want to be held liable for those who may misuse them, such as kernel exploits that could open the door to running retail game backups... if they are licensed developers as their day job it would jeopardize their careers too.

Sooner or later the pirates win though... they always do.

If they don't want legal problems, why not go to the nearest square, connect to a public Wi-Fi signal, create a new account with false data and release the information? That way nobody would know who they are... Although I suppose that is the problem. Nobody wants legal problems, but neither do they want to release anything if they don't get recognition.

That's the catch-22, then add in scene drama and beggars surrounding whoever releases anything always demanding even more from them for free and the recipe becomes less appealing with every ingredient added.

As @bombob mentioned hopefully someone else out there will pick up the torch to run the next stretch of this PS4 jailbreaking marathon... at least to bring us past the 1.76 hurdle.
