PS4 Jailbreaking       Thread starter PSXHAX       Start date Nov 25, 2016 at 3:49 AM       47

If you're standing outside in some long and cold Black Friday line today this is just for you- following the earlier news, today @harryoke confirmed on Twitter that PlayStation 4 developers have pwnd the PS4 Pro which currently ships sporting PS4 3.70 OFW with a 0day exploit! :tree::santa:

He also mentioned if you're getting a PS4 Pro for the holidays NOT to update it past the stock 3.70 version Firmware it comes with, which makes sense as @flatz recently confirmed the 4.01 PS4 Jailbreak vulnerability by Chaitin Tech was patched... and Rebug developer @evilsperm tweeted he's looking to unload some of his PS3 and PS Vita stuff and get a PS4 Pro. (-8

Should scene developers release anything that makes use of the exploit now that it's been patched, you'll definitely want to stay under 4.06, and snarfing a PlayStation 4 Pro on 3.70 is an easy shot at the chance of PS4 homebrew and backup game loaders including PS4 Rebug CFW / multiMAN if / when they surface.

One more (unrelated) video from Chipwelt, to quote roughly translated: PS4 3.70 download the update 1.76. It is a video that reveals a FAKE. ;)

On the PS4 you can only download the latest update, currently the 4.06. It was simply changed the ps4-updatelist.xml to pretend that a 1.76 is downloaded. The size of the download is identical to the update 4.06

Thanks to @mota, @Nesterwork and @xxmcvapourxx for the heads-up in the PSXHAX Shoutbox! <3

whats better purchase if I dont have PS4 atm... can have PS4 Slim 500GB for like 200 euro and PS4 pro for like 320 euro.. any hint if those who getting ps4 pwned will be doing pro only, or not?
Get the Pro version if you can afford it. It's worth it even if you don't plan to buy a 4K TV. All games should theoretically have better performance on the Pro, even those without a patch to support enhanced Pro features. For those that do offer "PS4 Pro options" you should still run them in 1080p, possibly with added environment detail and effects if given those options, as opposed to running it in 4K.

The problem with running games in 4K instead of 1080p is that the performance hit is pretty big on the system, so it's going to struggle trying to hit 4k. This is why I hope new games give the option to run games in 1080p with better visuals or better performance, as opposed to running in 4K. It's also not really the right time to invest in a 4K TV yet either.

They are still very expensive (If you're looking for a quality TV, rather than a cheap deal). There are a lot of inconsistencies and incompatibilities when it comes to 4K TVs and HDR support. You also need to wait for more TV reviews, paying special attention to which 4K TVs support HDR with low input lag (input lag is how long it takes between when you perform an action in the game, versus when you see it happen on the TV).

Basically just get the Pro if you can, but unless you're rich or really desperate to upgrade your TV, hold out on getting a 4K TV until maybe another 1-2 years.

I honestly don't get the logic of not updating. When PS3 was hacked, everyone was on 3.55 and it blew the whole scene open. Remember those Teensy usb dev kits selling out. Aww memories...

But just like now, there were rumblings of a hack and advice of not updating. When PS4 gets a true jailbreak it will be for whatever the current firmware is. I'm willing to put money on it.

My guess is those on a lower PS4 Firmware are more likely to benefit from free scene solutions, whereas those on higher PS4 Firmware will be stuck waiting or with a Re-DRM dongle / ODE type hardware device (similar to PS3 3K / 4K consoles) since the l33t devs won't likely give up current exploits only the older (patched) ones.
