Earlier on we saw the official release of PS5 Firmware Update 3.00, and following the previous revision and 8.50 PS4 Beta PUP testing today Sony also pushed live PS4 System Software / Firmware 8.50 with the complete changelog outlined below. :cool:

:alert: As always DON'T UPDATE if you wish to use PS4 game backups and homebrew apps whenever a new PS4 jailbreak exploit arrives, and we'll add any related Tweets as PlayStation 4 Scene developers have a chance to examine it.

Download: PS4 Firmware 8.50 Update (US) / PS4 Firmware 8.50 Update (EU) / PS4 Firmware 8.50 Update (UK) / PS4 Firmware 8.50 Update (AU/NZ) / PS4 Firmware 8.50 Update (JP)

Here's the official 8.50 PS4 Firmware Changelog from Sony's page: PlayStation 4 system software update

Version 8.50

Main features in the system software update

  • In (Party), you can now enjoy Share Play with players on PS5.
  • In (Messages), you can now turn notifications on or off for each of the groups you're in. On the group screen, open the options menu and select [Turn Notifications Off].
Other updated features
  • On the game session details screen, you can now use the [Request to Join] button to ask the session leader to join their game session. The session leader can then send you an invite to join the game session.
  • When playing a game you've hidden, other players will no longer see that you're currently playing that game.
  • We've updated the file format for extended storage.
    • When you connect an extended storage device, its file format will be updated.
    • After that, you won't be able to use the device on a PS4 that has a previous version of the system software.
  • (Communities) is no longer available.

Yeah, need to be a little more patient. Getting a PS4 at all is pretty expensive at the moment, let alone one with a lower firmware.

Is it possibly to still access PSN using 8.03 with a DNS or some other method?

I've seen people casually throw out that after a new PS4 firmware releases, they are able to access PSN while on the old firmware for a short period of time.

There are a couple PSN titles I want to grab but would prefer to stay on 8.03 instead up updating to 8.50 which just released.

Is there some way to use a DNS or another method to still access the PSN store this week?

Years ago Sony didn't make updating mandatory to access PSN until a few weeks after each OFW release, and back then several 'bypass' methods were discovered including PSProxy, SKFU Pr0xy3, etc.

Here are several topics covering them sorted by date with the oldest first, but once the force_update is changed to the latest Firmware version it's required rendering the methods useless:
PHP:
<force_update>
<system level0_system_ex_version="0" level0_system_version="08.508.000" level1_system_ex_version="0" level1_system_version="08.508.000"/>
</force_update>

Is force_update something that's local to my system after it detects 8.50? Or something set on the PSN server side? If the latter, I'm assuming the answer is that Sony has already flipped with switch to require 8.50?
