While doing away with their PS Vue TV Service and proceeding the PlayStation 5 Launch Date and PS5 DevKit Images Leak, Sony Interactive Entertainment recently filed trademarks for the PS6, PS7, PS8, PS9 and PS10 in Japan presumably as placeholders for potential future PlayStation platforms... PS10 Jailbreak ETA WEN?! :notworthy:

To quote from on these interesting findings:

This sort of trademark security is a regular occurrence for Sony. Here is a history of “PS” trademarks in Japan:
  • PS” (trademarked in 2000, released in 1994)
  • PS2” (trademarked in 1999, released in 2000)
  • PS3” (trademarked in 2005, released in 2006)
  • PS4” (trademarked in 2006, released in 2013)
  • PS5” (trademarked in 2006, released in 2020)
Here's to hoping Sony actually makes it to a PlayStation 10... chances are by then the world will have evolved so much either interest will be lost in video games, or gaming will have transformed into something completely different than what we define it as today. o_O

Nevertheless, it's reassuring to know Sony is already thinking ahead of the future generations to come. 😼
