Today m0rph3us1987 will speak at the 35th Chaos Communication Congress (35C3) (Live Stream - Relive) to publicly disclose how to exploit PS4 video applications to run unsigned code on ALL Firmware versions while the PlayStation 4 scene awaits further word on the rumored PS4 Top Secret Method for Games that requires PSN according to @zecoxao on Twitter. :notworthy:

In the meantime, following the multi-platform RetroArch 1.7.5 release, PlayStation Classic Boot Menu + RetroArch Christmas 2018 Public BETA and Orbital PS4 Emulator progress recent Github commits indicate preliminary development is also underway by frangarcj (Twitter) for RetroArch PS4 (Orbis) support!

For those unaware, here's a bit more on RetroArch (Twitter) from the official site at RetroArch.com to quote: "RetroArch is a frontend for emulators, game engines and media players.

It enables you to run classic games on a wide range of computers and consoles through its slick graphical interface. Settings are also unified so configuration is done once and for all.

RetroArch has advanced features like shaders, netplay, rewinding, next-frame response times, and more!"

just to be clear:
  • don't expect other builds (i have respect of devs, maybe they don't want this stuff done)
  • the code is fragmented. this build is based on latest commits from psxdev (except file stuff (open file, make directory..), he need to update the liborbisFile too with the functions he is calling in the code)
  • i don't think it works. i was just curious to know at which point we are. as i told yesterday, my ps4 is ko at the moment so i can't test it (i'm waiting for the hdmi encoder and hdmi port replacement)
download the elf from here and let me know. thanks

Spoiler

updated liborbisFile and last commit from frangarcj.

as written, there is no sense to make more builds as the code is updated almost every day.

in an ideal world what you make at a first attempt work as expected.

in reality this (quite) never happens: you try (commits), you make mistakes, you discover what's going on (gistfile1.txt), you try to fix/improve (again commits), you maybe make fixes or not (cyclic) then you add something.
and the history repeat until you have achieved all of your goals.

short long story: surely yes for a pkg but not now.

personal extra consideration: the ps4 *** and, in general, the homebrew scene for ps4, seems to me more like something reserved for a restricted group than an open "project".
