The Entertainment Software Association that runs the annual trade show and Sony confirmed PlayStation is officially skipping next year's Electronic Entertainment Expo event leaving many speculating the move could be an indication their next-generation PlayStation 5 (PS5) console may arrive in 2020.
Microsoft and Nintendo will both still be attending E3 2019, which runs from June 11th to the 13th in Los Angeles, California.

“PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”
Sony also skipped this year's PlayStation Experience, a conference that it had held every December from 2014 through 2017.
