Sony Reports 60 Million PS4 Consoles Shipped Through March 31, 2017

According to their recent FY2016 Consolidated Financial Results covering the fiscal year ending on March 31st, 2017 Sony Corporation reports that 60 million PS4 consoles have shipped!

The report also predicts that 78 million PlayStation 4 units will ship by March of 2018, while Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong via The Wall Street Journal speculates a next-gen PlayStation system to launch in 2018.

Whether this may include updated PlayStation 4 hardware that surpasses the current PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim 1TB models or a jump to PlayStation 5 remains to be seen, but according to GameSpot.com the WSJ reporter is the same analyst who correctly predicted PS4 Pro and Slim ahead of their respective launches.

I think sony should wait to see if scorpio is a next gen xbox or if will be labeled xbox one whatever. Sony already has userbase plus if someone wanted the specs of a scorpio they would probably just get a gaming pc since xbone is just a basic gaming pc even using modified windows its too soon to make a new ps4 since the pro is was supposed to be this top pf the line op console then microsoft just makes something that has hardware that blows it out of the water just wait till 2019 or 2020

Way too soon for a new console..... Wait till Christmas 2020... That gives 2.5 years of good PS4 fun left before we all run out and likely spend $599 Cdn for a new system.

i think sony has to send three musketeers again to leak "private keys of PS3", then they can make a new gen console. and with this leak, you just complete the incomplete tasks.

On the other way, i think it's too soon for another console. Ps4 eventually will be 'hacked' and the remaining units will fly like the wind.

As much as I'd want Sony to one up the Scorpio, it's too soon for another console. I feel like we're still waiting on a lot of big titles to drop for current gen. Plus we need to let some years pass for there to be a big enough performance jump to warrant buying another console.
