you must use HDD

Should be able to. I restored backup with micro sd card with a USB multicard reader on ps3

Will ps4 factory initialization remove downloaded update file?

@Ant3G - in order to remove a downloaded update you need to boot PS4 into recovery mode. Then you need your current system version or higher and to reinstall that firmware.

I used recovery mode version straight to 5.05 from 5.03 which had downloaded the 5.55 update. It will notify you which version of system update is being installed before it does so.

Is it worth it if I stopped updating my system software? I'm on 7.55 and would really want to jailbreak whenever I have the chance. So if I stopped updating from 7.55 would I ever get a chance to jailbreak it in the future?

You would be better off trying to find a used console on 6.72 or lower firmware. You could be waiting for a 7.55 jailbreak for years.
