Do PS4 disc-based games on PS5 require a Firmware update?

does anybody with a lower fw ps5 such as 2.00 check whether recent ps4 titles such as re8 is playable via ps4 disc or it need updating ?

i saw a few months back.. some people posted here that they will be keeping their ps5's offline on 2.00 or 2.20 something & that ps4 discs were playable on their consoles.

what i still wanna know is whether they are still holding onto that firmware & whether recent title such as ps4 re8 was still playable ?

I have 4.02 and ghost of tsushima ps4 disk works (it's for 7,55 ps4 firmware)

I have ps5 3.20 and it plays ps4 disks. No update needed.

Have tried TLOU 2 on 2.00 ps5, not working, game freeze.
Tried assassin's creed unity, Detroit become human, a plague tale innocence working.

@MynameISaria bingo... thats what i wanted to hear.. appreciate it mate.. means my guess was right.. to play newer ps4 games you gotta update your ps5 fw to newest accordingly..

ok lets assume we get a jailbreak to enable ps5 debug etc , are our current ps4 fpkg games going to run on the ps5, its a scenario a lot require answer to. Probably unknown just putting it out there

Is there anyway that i can copy save games from ps4 to my ps5? I just got my ps5 console in box, but i don't want to update its firmware.
