PlayStation Black Friday Deals & New PS4 FPKG Updates in PS4Scene

With the holidays rapidly approaching, Sony unveiled their PlayStation Black Friday Deals for 2024 featuring PlayStation Direct savings on accessories, hardware, games, amazing PlayStation Plus Store discounts up to 70% off select titles and merchandise up to 40% off at PlayStation Gear Shop via the Official PlayStation Black Friday site alongside some new PS4 FPKG Game Updates and more in the PS4 Scene this week!

Sony also recently announced news of a PlayStation Portal remote player system update allowing PS Plus Premium members access to test Cloud Streaming (Beta) for select PS5 games on Game Catalog.

Features available during the Beta

• Stream select PS5 games in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog
  • Over 120 PS5 games from the PS Plus Game Catalog, including Dave the Diver, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Monster Hunter Rise, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, will be accessible on PS Portal via cloud streaming
• Streaming up to 1080p/60fps
• DualSense wireless controller features, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, speakers, touchpad (emulated on the touch screen for PS Portal), and motion sensor
• PlayStation Plus Cloud storage
  • Save data and game progress can be stored up to 100GB and will be automatically synced with your PS5 console, making it easy to switch seamlessly between local and streaming gameplay, and between multiple devices.

Next month's PlayStation Plus game have also been unveiled by Sony, featuring It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent and Temtem for December 2024:

In PS4Scene / PS5Scene news, a PlayStation 4 Save Mounter v1.3.1 PS5 r2 fork surfaced via idlesauce supporting 4.03 and 5.10 PS5 Firmware versions alongside a Github Fork modified version of PS5 UMTX Jailbreak (1.xx-5.xx) as well... and a WebKit Vulnerability for PS5 Firmware 7.61 and Below (CVE-2023-28205) to test out.

From Sondio (aka @BigWadger / @Tribb2001) via @Archi55 comes a PlaySon 3.7.20 Beta multi-function tool supporting Android from API 19 onwards with / without root access where the PlaySon.apk is available from his Ko-fi Page with further update details outlined as well.

A Remote Lua Loader by shahrilnet for PS4 / PS5 is available and based on gezine's finding that allows games built with Artemis engine to load arbitrary lua file. Currently this loader is specific for Raspberry Cube (CUSA16074). The loader is not firmware dependant, and has been successfully tested on PS5 Pro 10.20 with a PS Remote Lua Loader (Latest) available via @master s9 (master_s9 on X / Master-s on Github).

Even though I have a ps5 and a psplus subscription, I'm not sold at psportal with just some selected games enabled in the stream.

Way more excited to see the backports of old ps games to ps4, glad to see the ps4 comunity working and putting work to make all those backports.

Although streaming from Sony's Cloud seems a good idea, the requirement for a fast internet connection restricts the portability of this device.

Wasn't the Portal the worst invention since the Virtual Boy?!? I haven't seen a enthusiatic review of it in the whole internet!

Sony seems intent on marketing the Portal even with strong rumors of a proper new portable PlayStation system on the way. If they end up co-existing (similar to the cheap Xbox Series S vs more expensive Series X), it is possible they'll share firmware elements which in turn would potentially make hacking one system similar to the other.

Of course, with Sony willing to write custom memory controllers for the PS4/PS5 over standard Linux, their modified version of Android is probably going to be a challenge.

Separately, The PS4 key dumping article by jogold32 specifically mentions keys not being secured at rest on the PS4, can anyone please confirm if that is no longer the case with the PS5?
