Sony also recently announced news of a PlayStation Portal remote player system update allowing PS Plus Premium members access to test Cloud Streaming (Beta) for select PS5 games on Game Catalog.

In PS4Scene / PS5Scene news, a PlayStation 4 Save Mounter v1.3.1 PS5 r2 fork surfaced via idlesauce supporting 4.03 and 5.10 PS5 Firmware versions alongside a Github Fork modified version of PS5 UMTX Jailbreak (1.xx-5.xx) as well... and a WebKit Vulnerability for PS5 Firmware 7.61 and Below (CVE-2023-28205) to test out.

From Sondio (aka @BigWadger / @Tribb2001) via @Archi55 comes a PlaySon 3.7.20 Beta multi-function tool supporting Android from API 19 onwards with / without root access where the PlaySon.apk is available from his Ko-fi Page with further update details outlined as well.

A Remote Lua Loader by shahrilnet for PS4 / PS5 is available and based on gezine's finding that allows games built with Artemis engine to load arbitrary lua file. Currently this loader is specific for Raspberry Cube (CUSA16074). The loader is not firmware dependant, and has been successfully tested on PS5 Pro 10.20 with a PS Remote Lua Loader (Latest) available via @master s9 (master_s9 on X / Master-s on Github).

I'm Sondio, the creator of PlaySon; I have released a new update for PlaySon 3.7.22 Beta and it is available on my ko-fi page.

In this update I added local passthrough, using the WiFi IP of the Android device and the desired port (1337, 2121, 3232, 9090, etc.), support for chiaky (PS Remote) and a newsletter at the top of the main screen of the app, to communicate various updates or info to those who use the app.

Supported languages: English/Italian

When you first start the app, the language will be automatically set to the device language, if the language is not supported, it will be set to English. You can change the language from the app settings.

In the future, if requested, other languages will be added. you will be asked for various permissions such as access to memory, read/write files, access/modify system settings, notifications, which are necessary for the app to function properly. They may vary depending on the version of Android.

After that it will check for app updates, and if available it will show a prompt to start the download, otherwise it will continue downloading the GoldHEN plugins and patches zip archive (a few kb), and it will check for the latest versions of the pkgs defined in the app database, and if available it will show a prompt to start the download, and they can be added or removed via the database tool. The database update can be enabled or disabled from the app settings.

When the "matrix" effect appears in the background, the app is ready to use. On the main screen, at the top there are the status icons for the internet connection, wifi connection (green for a connection present, red for an absent connection) and newsletter (it flashes when there is a warning and will be displayed by clicking the icon); by double-tapping in the center of the screen or dragging from the right towards the center
the menu will appear:

Settings:

here we can manually set the ps4 ip address (even if it starts automatically the first time the ps4 connects to the app), the various ports for the binloader and ftp server, the type of jailbreak (changeable only with root access to set pppwn otherwise default only for fw 9.00), the type of webkit, the version of the GoldHEN payload that will be used, the repo for the cheats (GoldHEN, ps4trainers.com), the preferred cheat format (json, shn, mc4).

you can enable or disable the app's audio, vibration (if your device supports it), database update auto check; you can clear the cache and cookies used by the app by clicking on the text in kb, and with root access, another entry for dns will appear that can also be clicked to check for updates.

Server:

when the server is active (green icon) it will be possible to select a payload from the spinner and send it to the ps4, always if the binloader is active, and if you want you can add a payload to the spinner by clicking on the "add" item in the spinner list, selecting it from the device memory.

1) with root access and the otg-lan adapter

if the jb type is already set to pppwn in the app settings, you can connect the OTG-LAN adapter when you start the app after the "matrix" effect appears in order to establish the connection with the ps4, then if you need to do the jb the app will automatically manage the connection and you just need to follow the instructions on the screen.

If your android device does not have kernel support for pppoe and/or pppd you will see a warning and after the exploit you will need to reset your ps4 to a normal lan connection with the parameters specified in the warning to continue using the app.

you can use a custom stage1.bin and/or stage2.bin simply by copying them into the PPPwn folder inside the main PlaySon folder, otherwise the ones already present in the app updated to the latest version (stage2.bin v1.03 by Sistr0) will be used

on the ps4 you need to set up a pppoe connection, as user and password you can enter whatever you want, automatic dns, automatic mtu, do not use a proxy server

when connecting the otg-lan adapter, the device will be prepared for the connection, and you can activate or deactivate some settings for the pppwn (they are sliding from right to left and vice versa), select the fw of the ps4 and the interface (usually eth0 but it can vary based on the android system) once set, clicking the server icon will start the exploit, just follow the instructions in the log window.

2) without root access

just click on the server icon and connect from the ps4 to the green link displayed at the top of the screen, connect the usb with the hexfathax_pico.img file when requested and follow the instructions that will appear in the notifications on the tv.

Sender:

1) Client FTP

FTP server on ps4 must be active

By moving the cursor (ps logo) on PKG and pressing the button with "" it is possible to check if the pkgs defined in the app database are installed and updated on the ps4, if so it is possible to send them to the ps4 inside the /data/pkg folder by pressing the "" button or to cancel the operation "".

By moving the cursor (ps logo) on CHT and pressing the button with "" it is possible to check if, based on the games installed and the type of extension chosen in the settings, the cheat files are present and check if new versions are available online, it is possible to search online for a cheat based on a specific version or retrieve all those available for that game and if so it will be asked whether to download them to then be sent directly to the ps4 by pressing the "" button or to cancel the operation "".

By moving the cursor (ps logo) on BIN and pressing the button with "" you can check if the payloads contained in the Android device folder "PlaySon/Bin" are present on the ps4 in the /data/payloads folder, if so they can be sent by pressing the "" button or to cancel the operation "".

By moving the cursor (ps logo) on PRX and pressing the button with "" you can check if the plugins and patches on the ps4 are updated and if so they will be sent by pressing the "" button or to cancel the operation "".

By pressing the "" button you can send a file to the PS4 by specifying the destination path.

2) Installer

FTP server and BinLoader on ps4 must be active

You can choose from where and how to install pkg files such as apps, games and game updates. Moving the cursor (ps logo) on remote package installer and selecting a pkg from the spinner, or from the android device memory by adding it to the spinner via the "Add" item, and pressing the "" button if it is already installed, in this case by pressing the "" button you will be asked whether to install/update it or by pressing the "" button you will be asked whether to uninstall it.

By moving the cursor (ps logo) on playson, you will use my payload, and by pressing the "" button you will be asked where you want to install one or more pkgs, or from the ps4 i.e. the pkgs present in the /data/pkg folder or from the memory of the android device. it will be checked if the pkg is installed and/or updated and if so by pressing the "" button it is possible to install/update it or by pressing the "" button it is possible to uninstall it. just follow the instructions on the screen.

Tool: PlaySon Database

This tool manages the pkgs in the app database, you can add a new pkg via the "Add" button where you can choose whether to manually add the pkg data by choosing the repo between github or pkgzone and entering the data that will be requested, title_id for pkgzone or the name of the repo and the name of the pkg for github; or you can add the pkg directly from the file but then you will have to find the repo to check for any updates. If you hold down a pkg in the list you can remove it from the database, and at the same time it will be deleted from the memory of the android device, or modify its repo. Pressing the "Restore" button will restore the default pkg database file.

Tool: Message

It works through my payload, pressing the "" button simply sends a notification to the ps4, you can use emojis and select the type of icon from those available in the spinner.

Tool: Pkg View

You can view some data of a pkg, like icon name title_id version region category firmware and others, by pressing the "" button and selecting it from the android device memory.

Tool: Profile

By pressing the "" button will recover the data of all accounts on the ps4, using the arrow keys it is possible to change the displayed data of the account among those recovered. The data includes profile image, user id, user profile, firstname, lastname, chiaky code and psn name.

By pressing the "🖋" button it is possible to change the local name of the profile.

By pressing the "🖌" button it is possible to restore the user's avatar image, if a backup was previously made using this tool, or change the avatar image, it will be asked whether to make a backup and then to select an image file from the android device memory (supported formats .bmp .gif .jpeg .png .webp) which will be automatically resized and converted according to the formats required by the ps4 and then sent to it.

trick: for example, you can use bitmoji to create a personalized avatar and then upload it using the tool. To apply the changes you will need to log out/in.

Tool: PLC

By pressing the "" button will retrieve all the dlc installed on the ps4, the dlc icon, the title_id and the content_id will be displayed. you can scroll through the dlc by moving the icon or search for it by name or title_id. pressing the "" button you can uninstall the current dlc or all the dlc of that game, pressing the "" button you can install one or more dlc by selecting them from the internal memory of the android device if they are not already installed (automatically checks). just follow the instructions on the screen.

Tool: Theme

By pressing the "" button will retrieve the themes installed on the ps4. you can scroll through the themes by moving the displayed icon, and the name of the theme, the title_id and the content_id will be shown; you can search for it by name or title_id.

By pressing the "" button will ask you if you want to install a theme by choosing it from those present in the remote database (about 877), it will load a preview of the themes and you will be able to view them as described above.

By pressing the "" button will download the theme from the remote database and then install it. you must follow the instructions on the screen. if there is an error in retrieving the theme, wait a few minutes or so and try again (I need to find a better remote server).

By pressing the "" button will allow you to uninstall the displayed theme, be careful not to uninstall the theme in use or it will cause problems, temporarily replace it with another and then uninstall it.

Tool: USB

can only be used with root access. when you connect the usb stick, it will retrieve the usb data like filesystem type and size. you can format it in exfat or fat32, flash the exfathax_pico.img file or copy the goldhen payload to it by selecting it from the list based on the versions available in the app. you need to follow the on-screen instructions and once finished press the eject button for safe removal of the usb stick.

Tool: GoldHEN Patches

Attention enable/disable patches BEFORE starting the game.

By pressing the "" button will check if the plugins are installed, if so follow the instructions on the screen. pressing the "" button will display a list of installed games and selecting one will show the patches available for that game, if they are already active the checkbox will be checked vice versa no, just act on the checkboxes to activate and deactivate the patches, press ok and start the game.

Tool: GoldHEN Klog

you can view the klog provided by GoldHEN and save it to file.

Close:

When you want to close the app, first unplug the OTG-LAN adapter if connected and then press this item. Do not close the app from the task.

Every time I release a new version the app will show a prompt to update. If the app crashes, you can send me the contents of the "PlaySon/Logs" folder so that I can quickly trace the problem and fix it.

PSPortal is a handy device, I can play games lying in bed or sofa, and my families can watch TV, but it really depends on the network speed to playstation server.

I love how the PSPortal looks different from all other handhelds, almost like a DualSense cut in half and attached to each side of the screen.

If they are going to make it work with a PS plus premium membership without having to own a PS5 I may be tempted to get one.

I love the form factor of the ps portal but it seems so pricey because it isn’t standalone. I like the Vita and the PSP for what they were and like the switch now. I can’t help but feel like the ps portal lacks a lot in comparison to true standalone.

@chufi, you don't need to own a PS5 to get the Portal now. As long as you have PS premium you can stream games from the cloud. They offer over 200 games already.

I have and enjoy the Portal. It allows me to game while the wife watches tv and now that they've added the cloud streaming it's great. I'd love a standalone system like the vita/PSP but with a similar design as the Portal.
