Although Sony's next-generation
PlayStation 5 console isn't expected until the 2020 holiday season, today
Andrew Marmo tweeted about a
rumored Sony Interactive Entertainment patent (
sony-interactive-entertainment.pdf) and images that surfaced on
LetsGoDigital.org that may provide a glimpse into either the PlayStation 5 or PS5 Development Kit design by
Yusuhiro Ootori (though search lists Sony's Engineering Director as
Yasuhiro Ootori) featuring the Roman numeral V.
Here's a rough translation of their latest update, to quote:
The design of Sony keeps us busy and so we continue to search. We have just managed to get more product images showing the patented device from different angles. It actually seems to be the PS5 game console or the PS5 Development Kit, the latter being used by game developers.
On the back you will find, among other things, the connection to connect the device to the TV. In addition, the wide slot seems to be intended to insert a disc, making it likely that we are indeed looking at the long-awaited Sony PlayStation 5 (Development Kit) here.
Incidentally, it is not common for a Dev Kit to be so richly decorated, with the V-shape, etc. You should not be surprised if it turns out that this is the real PS5.
