Sony Reveals PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) Headset Design for PS5
Proceeding the PS5 VR Controller unveiling and PlayStation VR2 / PS VR2 Sense Controller Specifications detailed last month, in PS5 News today Sony revealed the PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) Headset Design sharing a first look alongside the inspiration behind their latest virtual reality hardware device.

Here's the full scoop on the next-gen PSVR 2 Headset design from Sony's Platform Experience SVP Hideaki Nishino via PS Blog, to quote:

Today, I am especially pleased to reveal the stunning new design of our next generation VR headset, PlayStation VR2, together with an updated and final design image of our PlayStation VR2 Sense controller.

You’ll notice the PS VR2 headset has a similar shape as the PS VR2 Sense controller, taking on a matching “orb” look. The circular orb shape represents the 360-degree view that players feel when they enter the virtual reality world, so this shape captures it nicely.

Sony Reveals PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) Headset Design for PS5 2.jpg

The design of the PS VR2 headset was also inspired by the look of the PS5 family of products. When our design team created the PS5 console, they also had the next generation VR headset in mind so you’ll notice some similarities in the look and feel. The PS5 console has flat edges as it is meant to be displayed on a flat surface, while there was more emphasis on adding roundness to the design of PS VR2 headset since it is meant to have constant human contact, similar to the rounded edges of the DualSense controller and Pulse 3D headset.

Our goal is to create a headset that will not only become an attractive part of your living room decor, but will also keep you immersed in your game world, to the point where you almost forget you are using a headset or controller. That’s why we paid very close attention to the ergonomics of the headset and conducted extensive testing to ensure a comfortable feel for a variety of head sizes.

We already had a lot of positive feedback...
Damage Shield Mitigation Technique Added to Ricochet Anti-Cheat Technology
Since their initial announcement last fall, TeamRICOCHET recently shared an updated Ricochet Anti-Cheat Technology progress report that now includes a Damage Shield mitigation technique incorporated into Warzone... meaning if the server determines a player is manipulating the game in real-time, their ability to inflict damage upon others will be disabled when cheating is detected. :sneaky:

Below is the full press release from their blog at CallofDuty.com, to quote: RICOCHET Anti-Cheat Progress Report – Season Two Update

With the global rollout of the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat kernel level driver on PC, Call of Duty: Warzone saw a significant drop of in-game cheat reporting, according to internal data.

TeamRICOCHET was able to catch and disable accounts quickly, bringing cheating within Warzone to an all-time low during the holiday break.

As time has progressed cheat developers have looked for new ways to try to exploit the game. Some have succeeded, many have not. While a recent rise in cheating is not at the level it was during Verdansk, according to our data, any increase is frustrating.

Our team is constantly monitoring and will continue every effort to prevent and combat this wherever possible. This back and forth is expected, and while anti-cheat is not a magic bullet, this is a battle we’re committed to fighting.

Data Collection & Mitigation

RICOCHET Anti-Cheat relies on data to identify cheating behavior and make our banwaves more impactful. As we collect data from machines determined to be cheating, our goal is to ensure they aren’t taking wins from our deserving community.

TeamRICOCHET also uses several in-game mitigations to reduce the impact of cheating players, beyond banning accounts. One mitigation technique we’ve been testing is something we call Damage Shield.

When the server detects a cheater is tampering with the game in real-time, it disables the cheater’s ability to inflict critical damage on other players. This mitigation leaves the cheater vulnerable to real players and allows TeamRICOCHET to collect information about a cheater’s system. We track these encounters to ensure there is no possibility for the game to apply a Damage...
