PS3 OFW PSID Dump Tool & Guide to Dump PSID via OFW by Esc0rtd3w

Following his recent PS3 OFW Bubble Maker for DTU Method, PlayStation 3 developer @esc0rtd3w made available a PS3 OFW PSID Dump Tool and tutorial to dump your PSID from OFW using Netflix and the Data Transfer Utility (DTU) as detailed below.

Ok, this is yet another side project that I have been wanting to test more, and that day has come!!

I have tested this on OFW 4.81, and it does indeed dump the correct PSID, verified by checking on the CFW console.

This will allow you to dump the PSID from an OFW console. Yes I know, this IS NOT the coveted IDPS, which is the Console ID itself, but this is a unique number per console. I do not know much about what can be done with it alone, but it's "half" of your consoles unique ID.

Here are some screenshots. It requires a CFW console using the DTU method.

Now, the screenshots will give you an idea of what is going on, but basically Netflix generates a PSID.dat file located at "/dev_hdd0/game/NPUP00030/USRDIR/APPDATA".

I am using the DTU method in 2 ways, first, I am using it to push NetFlix onto the OFW console (although this just makes it easier) and then run the app on OFW to generate the PSID.dat.

Next, you do a "reverse DTU" from the OFW to the CFW console (this has many other benefits that I will not get into at the moment).

I am very happy that there are some folks from the scene still working on PS3. However, a dumb question, does this mean that PS3 4K Models are close to being hacked?

May be. But according to me the 4k models can still play backups via dtu method. It still depends on each person what a jailbreak means for himself.

All I can say is this, I do not even know what the PSID is used for. I just thought this was a cool way to get PSID from OFW. I fully understand that this IS NOT the IDPS and it is clearly stated. I was not aware of other means of getting PSID, as I have no experience in Game Save hacking for PS3 yet.

I am currently working on a couple methods to get IDPS from OFW 4.81. Whether this will be a success or a failure is yet undetermined. I will keep the community updated if anything interesting happens.

You can resign other PS3 Backups and run on your PS3 with ofw backup injection..

Cool, can explain in detail the steps and tools need to perform such resign? I have a console where the firmware is still on 4.70

esc0rtd3w thank you for the latest tools that you released because they opened a wide possibilities of ps3 methods i got inspired by how you dump psid especially dtu from ofw to cfw

i think we can achieve a lot by dtu from ofw to cfw, i think we can have access to idps on 4.81 ofw and also thank you for keeping the ps3 scene active because other hackers are now interested in ps4 scene and i think ps3 scene has alot more to come

there might be downgrading using a software and also maybe a chance for 3k and 4k models to see cfw.
