PS4 started update to a new firmware, can I cancel it?

Maybe by formatting the hdd

he cant.. he says when he starts ps4 its starting to update without confirming=means the update is ready to install and he's halfway to the update process.. cant revert it even if you format the hdd it will ask for the latest system version halfway installed on his ps4

WRONG!
If you actually boot into safe mode, you can choose to re-install the current firmware, which will completely reset the PS4.

i have the same problem i'm on 4.01 and the PS4 downloaded the last update without my permission , so if i use the safe mode method , will this format my hdd and erase my downloads? i mean i have some games half downloaded
