Scheduled Downtime: Updating PSXHAX Portal and Forum Software
Update: We're back. ;)

Here's the official memo: The folks at Xenforo who make the forum software used here announced that support for 1.5 runs out at the end of this month, and they advise everyone to update to 2.x so... that's what we'll be doing this weekend with some tweaks over the next few weeks after the initial upgrade is done.

The latest Xenforo 2 software includes built-in support for Authy, bookmarks, emojis, native push notifications, reactions, responsive Font Awesome 5.8.1 and a bunch of other stuff we likely won't use here but is nice to have available nevertheless.

Plan on initial downtime Friday night (ET) several hours where the site will be inaccessible (have an Admin login prompt) while the Portal and Forum software is updated and the database tables are converted to UTF8mb4, then the forums will be closed while we update backend code and once reopened we'll see what's still broken and work on it in coming weeks as time permits.

Before reopening the forums on Saturday morning if all goes well, the Moderators will be temporarily removed until we can go through their permissions later this weekend and then will be readded automatically to the Staff as long as they have 2FA enabled.

For those who haven't seen the latest Xenforo 2 software yet, check it out HERE (yes, the default style is light and we'll be using it) so the current PlayStation-themed style will be gone but not forgotten... perhaps over next winter we'll look into doing a custom darker theme though.

That's about it for the moment, catch ya'll soon on the other side!! :kitty:
PS4 Crash Dump Decryptor Python Script via SocraticBliss
Following fail0verflow's PS4 Crashdumps / Kernel Dumping and PS4 Aux Hax Documentation alongside his recent PS4 Sflash0 Pack Tool, PlayStation 4 developer @SocraticBliss made available a PS4 Crash Dump Decryptor Python Script for scene devs on Twitter today.

Download: ps4_crash_dump_decryptor.py / ps4_mono_to_il.py (PS4 MONO binaries to IL MONO binaries - updated script to work with the PS4's .dll.sprx and .exe.sprx files to turn them into .dll and .exe to be inspected with something like dnSpy)

From the Tweets below, here's what he had to say on it: "Still tweaking this somewhat, but decided to take a swing at fail0verflow's PS4 Crash Dump Decryptor script (since at this point its fairly outdated), enjoy!

Thanks goes out to notzecoxao, CelesteBlue123, and most of all fail0verflow! :)"

Reicast Sega Dreamcast Emulator PS4 Port in Development, Demo Video
Recently @oneman123 shared some screenshots on Twitter of the Reicast (GIT) multiplatform Sega Dreamcast Emulator PS4 port currently in development by @zezu420 (aka Znullptr on Twitter or dmiller423 on Github / Patreon page) with a Reicast PS4 Beta demonstration video showing some Rayman 2 gameplay from @DarkElementPL's YouTube Channel via Twitter. :geek:

According to the PlayStation 4 developer's Tweets below on a public release, to quote: "eta: wen it's ready, seriously though might just release the next beta the graphics issues won't be fixed without writing a gnm renderer due to complete lack of extensions in the vsh gles2 wrapper. When someone ports the linux video driver to a proper GL4+ library it will fix."

Sony Unveils the PlayStation Plus Free Video Games for May 2019
After so many showers this past April, the month of May will hopefully bring some welcomed relief... and with it also comes the latest PlayStation Plus free video games arriving on May 7th straight from Sony's latest blog update. :coolxf2:

Featured this month are both What Remains of Edith Finch and Overcooked! with further details on them below from Content Producer Matthew Groizard, to quote:

Let's take a closer look:

What Remains of Edith Finch

From the creators of The Unfinished Swan, the award-winning What Remains of Edith Finch is a highly original and often surreal experience. As the last of the cursed Finch family line, visit your family’s old family home and discover more about your relatives’ untimely deaths through unique interactive storytelling.

Sombre, thought-provoking and at times deeply moving, What Remains of Edith Finch is one of this generation’s most understated gems. If you missed it the first time around, now is your chance to experience it. Winner of Best Game 2017 from the British Academy Games Award (BAFTA), Best Narrative award at the Game Developers Choice Awards 2018 and more, developer Giant Sparrow’s follow up to their debut release, The Unfinished Swan, is a truly a special experience.

Overcooked!

Built specifically with local co-op play in mind, Overcooked! is a fun, frantic and often hilarious experience for up to four players. You and your friends will join forces to become a team of chefs and work against the clock to turn out dishes for hungry customers. With a strong emphasis on teamwork and timing, you’ll need to communicate with each other to chop vegetables, fry steak, stir sauces, plate-up finished meals, and more — all without the kitchen catching fire!

With its cute and colorful stylings, huge range of dishes and kitchen layouts, easy controls, accessible gameplay and a focus on silly, over-the-top antics, Overcooked! is the perfect party game for gamers and non-gamers alike. Play solo or enjoy couch co-op and competitive modes for up to four players.

Both What Remains of Edith Finch and Overcooked will be available to download from PlayStation Store on May 7.
