The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR PS4 Preview from E3 2017
Skyrim Virtual Reality fans rejoice, here's some footage of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR on the PS4 at E3 2017 as Sony Social Media Manager Justin Massongill explores iconic worlds in the realm of virtual reality going hands-on in Tamriel! :coolxf2:

Check out the video footage and details below, to quote: "I played Skyrim VR with a pair PS Move controllers, but Bethesda is building in DualShock 4 support as well. Each controller is mapped to one of your hands, and each hand can be equipped with a sword, shield or spell (or a bow and arrow, which occupies both hands).

Attacks feel natural, with a sword swing dealing substantial damage to enemies within melee range. Stabbing motions yielded no results in my demo — Bethesda is sticking to slashing motions for hand-to-hand combat to keep things balanced.

Wielding a bow and arrow is especially fascinating. It’s a fairly one-to-one affair, requiring the player to maneuver the PS Move controllers into position to nock an arrow, hold the right trigger, pull the controller / arrow back, and release the trigger to send the projectile on its merry, violent way.

I noticed no auto-aim assistance here, so it took me a few tries to actually peg an enemy soldier firing volleys back at me — all the more satisfying when I finally landed that precision shot and took him down.

Finding the right balance between player immersion and comfort is important to the team bringing Skyrim to PS VR — good news, since this is the full, dozens (hundreds?) of hours’ worth of gameplay we lost ourselves to a few years ago.

During my demo, movement was controlled by holding the PS Move button on the left controller to bring up a blue orb, which you could then move to any spot within a few-foot radius, then let go to teleport there. Pressing the two bottom face buttons on the right PS Move controller shift your field of vision a few degrees to the left or right.

Once I became more comfortable with this setup, I was blinking around mountain paths and through trap-filled dungeon hallways with blinding speed — unexpectedly making me feel more nimble and mobile than with standard controls. That said, Bethesda is planning to include options for more traditional movement, which players will be able to adjust depending on their comfort level.

Perhaps the most exciting moments I experienced during my...
PS4 IPL AES + HMAC Key Recovery Project Demo by Vpikhur
Recently Volodymyr Pikhur has been working on a PS4 IPL AES + HMAC Key Recovery Project with help from nedos utilizing a Verilog FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) to detect IPL (Initial Program Load) read and trigger capture board. :ninja:

PlayStation 4 hardware guys that favor FPGA's including @Chaos Kid will definitely take interest in this project, and here's to hoping we see some more on it in the future! <3

Below are some related Tweets from vpikhur including the demo video alongside some fresh PS4 MEMEs for developers:

Turns out the "debug key" that is used to hash "debug" firmwares from SMU effectively works on ALL retail versions of the PS4 smu firmware as well (the one on the wiki). Which means things are about to become VERY interesting...
this is the key
SMU HMAC Key (System Management Unit)
Code:
4D7E73210B677A832B9F293B496E7C3E
no, but you can probably dump your own keys/fuses with SMU code execution
the issue during all these years was, of course, endianess... book the endianess, to hell with it. anyway, now it's confirmed that the SMU key is potentially useful to run nasty code, provided that there is a way to reset available
Some more info
SMU is very privileged in PS4, not so privileged in PS5
samu has several keys, not just one. smu has only one used to hash the smu firmware. you can use this key to...
Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro Showcase Video from E3 2017
There were some amazing PS4 and PS VR trailers shown at E3 2017, and although Sony confirmed there are no immediate plans for a PlayStation 4 Pro price drop below is their PS4 Pro showcase video from this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo! :winkxf2:

Take-Two Interactive Orders OpenIV to Halt Game Modding Tools
Recently @Foe (our buddy Jake :giggle:) pointed out that Take-Two Interactive Software who oversees publishers including Rockstar Games and 2K Games sent a cease and desist order to OpenIV claiming that the GTA modding software tools defeat security features in place violating their rights.

Despite an active online petition to save OpenIV (we all know how effective those tend to be ) the OpenIV Team's lead developer GooD-NTS decided to discontinue work on their editing platform after nearly 10 years dealing a huge blow to the Grand Theft Auto modding scene.

Here's what he had to say on the situation, to quote: "We feared that this day would come... And now it's here. The day, when GTA modding was declared illegal. GTA modding had long and glorious history.

Since GTA III, people have created lots of different mods: from simple texture replacements to impressive full conversions. And the modding always was a "gray zone" -- a battlefield between lawyers and PR... For almost ten years of OpenIV development, we had tried to play as nice as possible and even more:
  • Strictly following of Civil Code of Russia (only reverse engineering for interoperability).
  • Only clean-room reverse engineering.
  • No distribution of original data and code.
  • And absolutely no messing with Online...
On June 5th, 2017, we had received an official Cease-and-Desist letter. It clearly says, that with OpenIV we "allow third parties to defeat security features of its software and modify that software in violation Take-Two's rights".
  • Yes, this letter is illiterate both technically and grammatically (really, they don't even bothered with proof-reading the text).
  • Yes, we can go to court and yet again prove that modding is fair use and our actions are legal.
  • Yes, we could. But we decided not to.
Going to court will take at least few months of our time and huge amount of efforts, and, at best, we'll get absolutely nothing. Spending time just to restore status quo is really...
