Following their Linux on PS4 Kernel release, fail0verflow have announced news of PS4 3D drivers working alongside some Radeon patches with details below.
Some new information about Linux on PS4: Fail0verflow get the 3D drivers to work
From Wololo, to quote: 3D drivers open the path not only to good homebrew development, but also to potential AAA titles. There are several AAA titles running on Linux, and getting hardware GPU acceleration is a prerequisite to run those.
Additionally, 3D acceleration could ultimately bring SteamOS to the PS4. I have argued that having Steam on the PS4 could bring some healthy price competition on the device. Despite what the naysayers complained about in my SteamOS article, several Steam games are optimized for gamepads and would run great on the PS4.
Yes, you can probably forget about DotA with your Dualshock 4, but it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine Linux on the PS4 will support a mouse and a keyboard ultimately. And if you can’t see the point of having a nice centralized box for all your gaming and entertaining needs in the living room, then I can’t do much for you
We updated the drivers for archlinux you can get them from here: ps4linux-video-drivers-master.zip / GIT
PlayStation 4 developer cfwprophet made available Simply NextGen RCO Data-Table Extractor v1.20 today alongside a demo video of it in action, which now allows users to extract PS4 RCO files from data tables.
Just a small update to make the Tool working with Data Tables of PS4 RCO's. And noooooo that is not the new Tool that handles both Vita and PS4 RCO de and compiling.
Github Link as always... OpenSource.
And a FULL pkg so crap it while it's hot.
The Vita RCO Data Table Extractor can now also extract the data table of a PS4 RCO
Linux on PS4: Fail0verflow publish their fork of the linux Kernel (WIP)
After announcing earlier this week that they managed to run Linux on the PS4, the Fail0verflow hacking crew promised they would publish their sources once in a stable state. They just published a github link on twitter, which contains their PS4 fork of the Linux Kernel.
What is this PS4 Linux source code, and is it useful for me?
Unless you’re a PS4 hacker with a Kernel exploit in your possession, these sources will most likely not be useful for you at this point. Fail0verflow have explained during the CCC conference that although they will actively work on providing a Linux port for the PS4 community, they will not provide the hacks/Jailbreaks/exploits they used to install and run it in the first place.
We know that several PS4 hacking groups have PS4 exploits running, so it will be interesting to see what these groups do with this newly announced github repository. For the individual reader, you’ll want to check who forks the Fail0verflow github, as a hint to whom might have running exploits
For those of you interested to jump into the code and understanding what changes Fail0verflow have been working on, the best way is probably to look at the full diff of the PS4 Linux port compared to the base.
When will Linux for the PS4 be released?
For the “end user”, you’ll still have to wait for several things to happen before any of this gets released: this Linux port to be finalized, a group of hackers to release a working PS4 Jailbreak, and someone connecting the dots together between the exploit and booting Linux. Don’t hold your breath, but this might happen sooner than most think.
I saw this around Christmas (you know, when everyone else in the world was falling off those wanna-be hoverboards lol)... while it's a damn cool proof-of-concept, I'm more excited about what it will bring 20 years from now once the technology is perfected versus the one you can get now for $19,900.00 USD.
Would anyone shell out $20k to pre-order for one of these?
Check out the ArcaBoard video demo below, followed by some details from their press release:
ARCA Space Corporation announced today that it has created ArcaBoard. For the first time in history, every person will be able to fly whenever they want, wherever they want. ArcaBoard represents the first revolutionary breakthrough in motion since the bicycle, automobile and airplane.
ArcaBoard, an electric powered flying machine with 272 horsepower and 203,000 watts of installed power is the most powerful and lightest personal vehicle ever created. ArcaBoard represents total freedom of movement, total freedom of travel. ArcaBoard is a personal vehicle that can move in every possible direction including upwards. The retail price is $19,900 and is available for order now. Shipments will start April 15, 2016.
“ArcaBoard represents a revolution in motion. For the last 17 years we have developed aerospace technologies that looked to the sky. We took our knowledge and applied it to everyone’s dreams. Dreams of flying,” said Dumitru Popescu, CEO of ARCA Space Corporation.
ArcaBoard is built from composite materials, it has a length of 145x76x15 cm (57x30x6 inches) and a weight of 82 kg (180 lbs). This technology allows a person with a weight up to 110 kg (243 lbs) to be able to fly.
The vehicle is able to fly up to 30 cm (1 ft) and with speeds up to 20 km/h (12.5 mph) and the overall performance is limited by the onboard sensors. The maximum endurance is 6 minutes, but with the ArcaDock accessory the user can be back in action in 35 minutes.
