Since more and more people are interested in making games work on OFW, I would like to give some tips for my TrueAncestor Backup Retailer tool.
1. What's new since v2.X?
Integrating game conversion;
Supporting injection to new backup;
Supporting extract backup;
IDPS feature;
New conversion engine in v2.2.
2. How to inject non-converted game?
Put game backup into GAMES folder and extracted patch into game folder.
Run 1,3,S or 3,N.
TABR will convert the game and inject the pacth with it.
If no related patch is found for the game, TABR will give a warning and still go on.
3. What does the N option do?
N option creates a blank backup for you and injects stuff to this new backup.
By using N option, no more original backup from your console is needed, so process 1/2 can be skipped.
And this backup can be restored on any console.
4. What about the IDPS feature?
You can place the idps.bin from your console in idps folder.
If you use X option to extract the backup from your console, TABR will extract both the unprotected and protected section.
You can also switch injection destination if idps.bin matches the selected backup.
5. What is the new conversion engine in v2.2?
V2.2 has an improved compability for sprx files in patch and blank character for filenames in game backups.
And it also provides an independent V option to let you convert games manually.
Put game backups into GAMES folder and use V option to convert chosen game to converted folder.
If no related patch is found for the game, the conversion will be aborted.
Then you can move the converted folder to game folder for injection.
Pay attention, when you inject converted games you should add both the game and patch folder by process 4.
6. Can I install pkg on OFW?
Yes, you can use process 8 to add a pkg to the backup and restore.
After restore, you can find a TA icon under game column in xmb, press triangle and install it.
After installation, the icon will disappeared.
Remember, only official(aka retail) pkg can be installed on OFW.
7. Why does TABR crash sometimes?
Mostly, you add some folders or files containing blank character in their names.
I suppose you replace the blank with '_' in the filenames.
But don't edit the filenames in game backup, or the game will freeze in some situation.
8. Why some game gives a black screen after launching?
Check if there are some splitted files in the game backup, merge them before injection.
9. Why some game gives an error and not be launched?
Maybe no pacth related to the game is injected or a bad converted game(missing LIC.DAT or improper EBOOT.BIN).
10. Why some game gives an insert disc error?
Not known exactly yet, trying to find out.
11. Will TABR support exclusive method for certain game in the future?
No.
12. Will TABR support injection for 4.81 in the future?
