I have a slim PS3 500 gb with model number CECH-2508B with Rebug CFW ver. 4.76.1

It boots up with rebug logo followed by time, date, location etc. setting and then the blue screen with "system information is corrupted. press x to repair and restore default settings" appears. when i press "x" button, the screen turns black while the 'power button led' remain green and the HDD & network led's just goes off. The system just hangs in this state.

I have also tried each and every setting in safe boot menu, but all of them end up in black screen after processing with power button led - green and HDD & network led off.

I formatted the HDD to fat32 format using PC and It work fine on my PC.

I also tried updating the CFW using pendrive install method with the same Rebug 4.76.1 and the latest Rebug 4.80.1 build, but at the restart part the screen just turns black.

Please help me out with this problem.

Remove HDD and check it's SMART status in PC , then report back with results. If you can do a video and paste it here that would clarify a bit as well.

I used crystalDiskinfo to check smart status of hdd and it show that the hdd is in good condition.

Also, I have uploaded the video of problem which i face during installation of update.

Don't want to worry you but it could be flash problem or gentle ylod , but to be sure you would have to swap hdd , I had once similar strange problem , vision was only for 3-10sec on cold start afterwords no vision i normal mode just sound , but funny thing was I had vision in safe mode on both av and hdmi ;)

:(:(:( this must be bad then. Is this the flash memory problem?? If so then can the flash memory be replaced or is there any solution to it.

Also, I will try to use another HDD and report back.

I have added the video link of problem faced during installation in comment above, please can you look into it.

I always keep a few hdd's around and once I get problem fixed, I could usually swap back to the other hdd. I have a flasher mind you as well. But even still, keep a backup of your stuff on USB, and then a lot of times just switching the hard drive helps.

After seeing video only darker scenarios come to my mind , try different hdd perhaps system is loaded on damaged block and SMART is not seeing this block in report . other wise only hardware flasher and trying to recover flash checking if it's not corrupted and from this we spiral only to ylod sadly ;)

I tried a new HDD, but the same problem continued.

I would have to use the wayback machine, but a couple years ago or more, on Tortuga cove, Rogero had a fix for the Blue Screen of Death. I remember also pressing 0 instead of x if that happened. I will try to find the thread and post back.

Are you able in any way to put your PS3 into FSM? I found the threads in wayback machine search

I can't find Rogero's actual post yet, but do remember FSM working to fix the issue, or hdd as others say. And you already tried a different hdd.
