Howdy all! Up until today the way news was reported here at PSXHAX.COM consisted of users posting what they want in the Forums or Shoutbox, and then the Staff would move their posts to the main page for everyone to read and discuss.

Since PSXHAX.COM opened 17 months ago that simple system contributed to over 800 articles with a handful of snafus along the way, most notably the @GTAWWEKID PS4 2.50 exploit deemed fake and @racer0018's PS4 4.50 Beta Linux claim that was never substantiated.

It has come to our attention a warning has been put on Se7enSins.com stating the following:

"Please be aware that posts containing psxhax as a source for tools, homebrew, news, and misc information will be removed as this site is known to spread fake information, exploit', and brickware."

This PSXHAX warning is no longer accurate as of today, so if anyone is a member there it would be great if you can link them to this article which reassures their members and Staff that we are proactively addressing their concerns, effective immediately.

PSXHAX.COM Action Guidelines as of March 15, 2017:
  • We have removed the @GTAWWEKID and @racer0018 problem threads and will continue to do so should any new ones surface.
  • Any reported news that can't be substantiated (Sony rumors, for example) will contain the word 'Rumor' in the article title to ensure the headline accurately and clearly indicates the article's content as such.
  • Forum user-submitted news will NOT be mainpaged without reasonable proof as determined by the community including pictures, videos or code documentation to validate their claims or work.
  • Everyone from the current Staff except myself has been removed for the time being, so that we can properly retrain all selected Moderators before giving them permission to promote news here.
Finally, if we've missed anything with regards to these new guidelines or if you feel an article here still contains Clickbait / Fake News / Rumors let us know via Email, the Comments, Private Messaging or Twitter and we'll either remove it from the site or label it accordingly as detailed above and THANKS in advance for your help! :lovewins:
PSXHAX.COM Update on Clickbait Fake News Rumors Handling.jpg

I was pointing out that Wololo's account on Reddit should be posting content from various sources and only around 10% from his own site according to Reddit's policy <...> I'm not sure if you're aware of Wololo's self-admitted (check his Twitter) misleading tactics of making fake news articles to gain prominent placement on keywords in search engines <...> so he's definitely involved in some shady practices also but not blacklisted on Reddit.

Ah. While it's true that Wololo's reddit account goes against the 10% guideline, it's not a solid rule that has to be moderated, as it is legitimate articles and not someone's blogspot or wordpress that they post garbage on (which I think might be reddit's intention with that rule, to weed out the crappy blog posts). In your post I only see the April fools pranks (which I'd give a pass on, it's a day dedicated to deception), and the rumored dev return dated 4 years ago. It may be true that there was a couple posts in the past by them that are considered shady, but in my eyes, it wasn't near as bad as other scene sites. I'll keep a lookout though. Hopefully with the whole scuttle here, people will be more wary and call out other instances as they occur.

I kept things quiet when our old site was removed from Reddit despite most of the information on the PS3 Wiki, PSX-Scene, PS3Hax, etc originally coming from our old site.

To tell you the truth, I didn't know PSXHAX and PS3news were related. I didn't really visit that site ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On the PS3 Homebrew Wiki, I personally went through every single app listed and documented as I went. I would usually start off documenting the main feature of the program, sometimes by following a tutorial for the more "dangerous" things that mess with your system like OtherOS so I wouldn't book up my PS3, but generally I just freeballed it and explored on my own. The only major things that I copied information directly from were things that I was unable to test it myself without buying more hardware; notably the Teensy and Progskeet guides from Bailey (which wasn't exclusive to any site) and the ODE guides (which I think was mainly from maxconsole). With those I also cross referenced other sites, and asked a lot of questions to people who owned the devices to piece together my own spin on them. None of it really came from one source or another. I just aggregated the information from release notes, explored all of the programs/apps and options personally, and put up anything that's relevant and useful to help out people in the subreddits, as well as inputting any solutions to problems that people come across. I also don't really take credit (or give credit) for most of the information sources individually, as a lot of it is passed second hand since the scene is getting old, and it's hard to pinpoint exactly who made or did what (which is why I don't have a record of CJPC releasing the first homebrew app; but I'll add that once reddit is back up from maintenance since that's interesting info), and personally I don't think readers really care about who made the meta-information over a program so I don't bother. Anyways, that was a tangent.

Anyway, It's cool you guys are cracking down on rumors and whatnot and I hope that propagates to readers so they are more wary. Trust will be earned back eventually to be put back on the sidebar, and the other sites on the list aren't immune either. I had previously taken down PlayStationHax when the site was undergoing heavy styling changes and having issues, and I had removed a couple other sites from the list for other reasons. I don't remove posts unless they're unrelated (or pron; there's a weird amount of spam bots made to post pron on subreddits), so when people link PSXHAX, it doesn't get removed (side note, in the past 8 months, the majority of links I've posted on /r/ps4homebrew have been PSXHAX links). A tiny bit of embellishment on an article is okay, because obviously everyone wants their site to be the most interesting, but when it gets to be noticeable to me is when I question legitimacy.

That was a 3am text-wall. Last note, if you ever see anything noteworthy that should be added to the wiki, like the first app you mentioned, let me know and I'll fix it. The only things I know I'm missing is CFW2OFW and a couple small things on the public todo list, but that will have to wait a while. I also am working on the /r/OriginalXbox wiki :p Thanks for being level with me, in the future just PM me with concerns (y)

Edit: Oh, I did already have CJPC's app listed in the history page on the wiki, just not on the credits page. I'll add him there.

Yeah, that's not normally my nature but when those who are calling us out are guilty of their own claims we have to defend ourselves by pointing out their clickbait, fake news, etc too.

A few scumbags such as @STLcardsWS have disgracefully taken matters a step further personally attacking my family by linking our contact information on PSX-Place to intimidate me and victimize my 80-year old parents with harassment... I've reached out to him asking him to remove it, and his response was essentially that he wasn't breaking any laws and feels he's not doing anything wrong harassing the elderly who have nothing to do with Internet site feuds.

I'm sure if he was in my place and his parents were the ones being harassed he would realize it's not justifiable to attack children or the elderly like a terroristic coward, especially when my mom has a heart condition and dad isn't in great health either so the added stress may lead to a civil (or criminal, depending on the evidence at the time) suit being filed against him on behalf of our family should anything happen to them.

Point being while we handle the issue legally, please keep in mind those you perceive to be wearing white hats linked on Reddit may really be wearing black ones in disguise... I am happy to hear you are going to keep an eye on all sites there, and not allow any to become immune to being blacklisted if they continue to post clickbait, fake news, etc.

Thanks for being on the level with me too, as you may notice I spend an insane amount of time online here (far more hours than most other site Admins do) so I keep pretty good tabs on what's going on, who's doing what and enjoy posting most of the smaller things in the PS4 scene that other sites typically pass on taking the easy way out.

I would have PM'd you but since the accusations were public our defense needs to be public here also, as I'm sure you can tell the concerns go far beyond Reddit which was just an example used. If it is solely a Reddit issue I will definitely approach you more discreetly in the future so understood on that point. :notworthy:

I don't talk to CJPC much these days (he's ridiculously busy with his career and life) but every once in awhile I do on Google Hangouts... so I'll let him know he's finally been added to the Reddit PS3 homebrew credits thanks to you.
