App2USB / AppToUSB by Stooged: A Modification of PKG2USB for PS4

I will post this as a separate thread from the PS4 PKG2USB as the 2 payloads vary and it saves confusion.

Original Post: I was playing around with the ext0 mount and recreating the file structure that would be there if the pkg was installed to external storage.

There is a trick I found where if you copy the CUSAXXXXX folder from /user/app to /mnt/ext0/user/app and then unplug the hdd and plug it back in it causes the ps4 to do a repair and then the game is recognized as installed on external storage and from there there are other issues.

BUT with the great work SiSTRo has done in PKG2USB with the symlinks its a lot easier to manage with exfat and just normal USB.

So building on his PKG2USB and symlinks I modified what I was working on for the ext0 mount to work with the usb0 or usb1 and symlinks.

This payload searches the entire /user/app folder and copies all installed fpkg games to usb from the system drive and creates the symlinks like SiSTRo has kindly shown us the ability to do.

If you want to target a single game not the whole folder use PKG2USB.

If you install more games just run the payload again and it will copy any new games to the USB and so on.

With symlinks you are making a link to a directory so you want to pick which USB port to have the hdd on and keep it on that same port or the links will point to the wrong directory. USB0 is what I use.

if you used AppToUSB you don't need to delete anything the AppToUSB will do everything.
so just load the AppToUSB payload and relax until you see a msg in your ps4 say Complete. now just restart your ps4 and load the hen payload to play your games.

if you want to move your installed games from your PS4 INT HDD to your EXT HDD. Then yes you just plug your ext HDD and load the AppToUSB payload.

Thank you for that explanation, @Havok10 ! My understanding of "installing" games from the external drive while keeping them on the external drive is fuzzy. What actually happens when you want to do that? I thought that it needed to be "installed" internally first and then signify that you want it to be located externally. Does that still happen? If so, how long is the process of installing it internally if the aim is to keep it external?

I'm sorry. I guess I thought this tool was to transfer them from INT to EXT HDD. I am understanding now that it is simply to copy them to EXT and load them from EXT.

The AppToUSB is a payload to originally copy your game from the Int HDD to your exFAT Ext HDD then it remove the game from your Int HDD and put a symlink to link your game in the Ext HDD to your PS4.

So your PS4 will only have the link or a sourtcut to your game in the Ext HDD, that mean your game is in Ext HDD not in the ps4. And yes you have first to install the game in your PS4 then run or load the AppToUSB payload.

So in simple steps let say I have a new ps4 with no game installed in it and want to install my first game to my Ext HDD.

0- put your fpkg game in the root of your exFAT HDD.
1- power on your PS4 and run or load hen payload.
2-install your game from the debug menu or settings.
3- go again to the exploit page and choose IDE load the AppToUSB payload wait and don't close the webpage until the AppToUSB give you a msg that everything is complete.
4- restart your PS4.

Now your game is in your Ext HDD and now you can load hen payload and play your game as usual.
