I will post this as a separate thread from the PS4 PKG2USB as the 2 payloads vary and it saves confusion.

Original Post: I was playing around with the ext0 mount and recreating the file structure that would be there if the pkg was installed to external storage.

There is a trick I found where if you copy the CUSAXXXXX folder from /user/app to /mnt/ext0/user/app and then unplug the hdd and plug it back in it causes the ps4 to do a repair and then the game is recognized as installed on external storage and from there there are other issues.

BUT with the great work SiSTRo has done in PKG2USB with the symlinks its a lot easier to manage with exfat and just normal USB.

So building on his PKG2USB and symlinks I modified what I was working on for the ext0 mount to work with the usb0 or usb1 and symlinks.

This payload searches the entire /user/app folder and copies all installed fpkg games to usb from the system drive and creates the symlinks like SiSTRo has kindly shown us the ability to do.

If you want to target a single game not the whole folder use PKG2USB.

If you install more games just run the payload again and it will copy any new games to the USB and so on.

With symlinks you are making a link to a directory so you want to pick which USB port to have the hdd on and keep it on that same port or the links will point to the wrong directory. USB0 is what I use.

Thanks again to SiSTRo, xVortex, Anonymous, CelesteBlue!

@MeTheKing You dont have to install the games first anymore. If the PKG is in the root of the external drive, it will move them to the proper folder on external and create the link.

@Havok10 That's not true, I just tried it and the games don't get linked(and if you examine the source it's because it does a file compare between the internal drive app.pkg and what's on the usb's root, if they match they link otherwise it performs the INT->EXT copy.)

They have to first be installed through the normal hen method, because the extra files that go along with the app.pkg have to be installed and the app registered in the appdb. Only then can this payload fool it and simply move the app.pkg over to the external. With the CHECK_USB flag set, you can save the second copy job from INT->EXT by simply having the file you just installed the game from moved into the appropriate folder.

I've finished installing 44 pkg files in this method (CHECK_USB) and it works perfectly and every game that worked on internal works on external as well. I've heard there are exceptions for some games, but i haven't tried the ones people had issues with.

@stooged why not make CHECK_USB the default on the generated ini file? It saves a ton of time.

Having issues with Mass Effect Andromeda. I don't know if it's game specific or my hard drive. I just got the hard drive two days ago and I've transferred over 50+ games successfully without issues but went to do Mass Effect today and it was painfully slow, like it takes two minutes to get 1%. It got to 18% the first time and then my ps4 shutoff. The second time 8% and it shutoff as well. Going to test a couple things tomorrow to try to narrow the issue down.

@dyers

because some people will use the 1 hdd to store the pkg files in the root to install them and wont want them all moved and renamed to app.pkg

that's why removing // in the ini enables it.

@ZachZS

there is an issue with the ps4 and some hard drives, when you connect them they seem to connect at a really slow rate like usb1 speeds and it takes ages to transfer data.

I have found if this happens before the transfer gets to 100% close the webbrowser and open notifications as that will kill the browser process and the payload before it links and removes the file on the internal hdd.
if its near 100% just wait until the next file starts to transfer.

unplug the usb hdd wait a few seconds and plug it back in and then run the payload again

to be clear: i have to install the games on internal first,or not ?
Someone said its enough to rename the pkg to app.pkg and make it in a cusa folder on the external.
please be specific

@zerodevide
yes you must install the game first in your PS4.
and if you then rename your game to app.pkg and move it to CUSAxxxxx, this step will save you time bc then the AppToUSB will not copy your game again from your PS4 to your ext HDD.
