I will post this as a separate thread from the PS4 PKG2USB as the 2 payloads vary and it saves confusion.

Original Post: I was playing around with the ext0 mount and recreating the file structure that would be there if the pkg was installed to external storage.

There is a trick I found where if you copy the CUSAXXXXX folder from /user/app to /mnt/ext0/user/app and then unplug the hdd and plug it back in it causes the ps4 to do a repair and then the game is recognized as installed on external storage and from there there are other issues.

BUT with the great work SiSTRo has done in PKG2USB with the symlinks its a lot easier to manage with exfat and just normal USB.

So building on his PKG2USB and symlinks I modified what I was working on for the ext0 mount to work with the usb0 or usb1 and symlinks.

This payload searches the entire /user/app folder and copies all installed fpkg games to usb from the system drive and creates the symlinks like SiSTRo has kindly shown us the ability to do.

If you want to target a single game not the whole folder use PKG2USB.

If you install more games just run the payload again and it will copy any new games to the USB and so on.

With symlinks you are making a link to a directory so you want to pick which USB port to have the hdd on and keep it on that same port or the links will point to the wrong directory. USB0 is what I use.

Thanks again to SiSTRo, xVortex, Anonymous, CelesteBlue!

@JakeyWineBottle

When you install a update pkg it gets installed as patch.pkg, you dont actully overwrite the original installed app.pkg.

If you have a game installed on the usb and you install an update pkg you can run the payload again and it will move the patch.pkg to the usb.

I have another question: If I buy a new PS4 Pro with 4.55 how do I get my external games on it? I guess I have to install them again, right? If I plug in my HDD on the exploited PS4 the games won't be recognized since they aren't installed on the new PS4. The problem is I already deleted all installation PKGs. But in the folder of the external HDD are the PKGs as well. Can those be used to install the games again or are they different?

I hope you understand what I mean.

Thank you for your help :)

@xfighter11

Not that I have tried but from what I can gather the app.pkg is just the original PKG moved and renamed. The file is not altered.

So all you need to do is change the name to something else (just to avoid duplicate file names if you move more than one back to the root) and install as normal.

If you are using the new version that also dumps the icons and txt file just use the name of the text file for renaming the app.pkg

However if you did not have the PKG on the drive to be moved, and it copied from the PS4, I am not 100% but I think the principal is the same

@xfighter11 you will have to install all of them again. But you can save some time by running app2usb after you install all those games, and making sure the external hdd with games is connected at boot. app2usb will then simply symlink without needing to copy again.

@xfighter11

When you install a pkg it copys the pkg file to a temp folder as app.pkg then it does some sony magic with databases and rif/entitlements then it moves the app.pkg file to the user/app/cusa folder.

The pkg file never gets modified so the app.pkg apptousb moves to the usb drive is the same pkg you originally installed.

The games will have to be installed via the package installer in the debug settings because sony needs to do its magic

If you install all of the games onto the new ps4 and plug in your old hdd that you used with apptousb the payload will link everything without needing to copy the pkg files from the internal hdd.

@stooged

If I delete a game with the usb connected that was moved by the app rather than being copied from the ps4 should the app.pkg be deleted when uninstalling from the ps4?

As when I did this earlier the game removed on the ps4 side but the folder and all the files including the app.pkg remained on the usb drive

@DEFAULTDNB, i dont know what you mean with permission. how can i do that? tell me please what i can do.

All other games are working on external with patch on external or internal, without do anything like permission. Only thing i do s install via pakage file and linking on external with apptousb.

I have installed more then one time and the games (FIFA & Hotline Miami dont start after installing the patch. The Games external and patch internal dont start, the game and patch external dont start.

I used PS4 FW 4.55 and Xvortex hen 1.4., apptousb V13
