I will post this as a separate thread from the PS4 PKG2USB as the 2 payloads vary and it saves confusion.

Original Post: I was playing around with the ext0 mount and recreating the file structure that would be there if the pkg was installed to external storage.

There is a trick I found where if you copy the CUSAXXXXX folder from /user/app to /mnt/ext0/user/app and then unplug the hdd and plug it back in it causes the ps4 to do a repair and then the game is recognized as installed on external storage and from there there are other issues.

BUT with the great work SiSTRo has done in PKG2USB with the symlinks its a lot easier to manage with exfat and just normal USB.

So building on his PKG2USB and symlinks I modified what I was working on for the ext0 mount to work with the usb0 or usb1 and symlinks.

This payload searches the entire /user/app folder and copies all installed fpkg games to usb from the system drive and creates the symlinks like SiSTRo has kindly shown us the ability to do.

If you want to target a single game not the whole folder use PKG2USB.

If you install more games just run the payload again and it will copy any new games to the USB and so on.

With symlinks you are making a link to a directory so you want to pick which USB port to have the hdd on and keep it on that same port or the links will point to the wrong directory. USB0 is what I use.

I have installed 90 games and the only one that does not work on the external disk is called Bioshock collection nb a strange problem persists sometimes. I have to restart the ps4 because it does not launch the games anymore, the blue screen appears with an error code for the game.

The system is very convenient because apart from installing the game on the external disk, the pkgs can be reused to install the game in case of accidental deletion.Only you have to bring back the package to the root of the external hard drive and and you can rinstall it, a very welcome advantage

Hi @stooged what happened about my custom payload I know you are busy, so I will ask you if I commented the code for the mismatched size, the payload will work fine or do I have to comment some more.
And sorry for the noob question, then how can I convert the files that I modified from your source to .bin file?

Thanx

I would like to know if there is a program that scans the external hard disk in the PC to see what games there are inside

mm i did try but i have this result
Code:
C:\Python27>python pkg_list.py D:\games
ERROR: parsing of param.sfo failed. Invalid app_ver length.
ERROR: parsing of param.sfo failed. Invalid app_ver length.
Saved list of 6 pkg files to pkg_list.xlsx
Found:

2 PKG files failed to parse

I have no idea what's going wrong

Same issue as antonio described "Having trouble getting this to load, I use the original hen tab, then launch the apptousb.bin from NetCatGUI program. I see the prompt on my PS4, then the 2nd "unplug USB" prompt, then I get the 3rd prompt and out of memory error screen and nothing else happens..."

you need to list what version of the payload you are using and what ps4 software version you are on.

it helps if you add to the list if you have more than one hdd plugged in and which physical port its plugged into if its 4.05 and if its the first time ever using the payload or if you have used it before to transfer games successfully.

also you don't run hen before this if anything you want a clean slate so after you have installed games reboot the ps4 and then run the apptousb payload to transfer the games to usb.
