OpenPS3FTP v4.0 PS3 FTP Homebrew App Updates by Jjolano
Following the previous revisions, PlayStation 3 homebrew developer jjolano recently released OpenPS3FTP v4.0 with some additional updates complete with the changes and source code below.

Download: OpenPS3FTP v4.0 PKG / OpenPS3FTP v4.0a PKG / OpenPS3FTP v4.0b PKG / OpenPS3FTP v4.1 / OpenPS3FTP v4.2 / OpenPS3FTP v4.3a / OpenPS3FTP v4.4 / GIT

To quote from the ReadMe.txt file: OpenPS3FTP is an open source FTP server for the PlayStation 3. It supports the basic FTP commands that the typical user would need to transfer files in and out of their console.

It also provides read/write access to the console's flash partition, by mounting /dev_blind.

Currently, this server is optimized for stability over performance. A performance benefit is possible, but it seems libsysfs isn't cooperating.

Known issues:
  • Occasionally, file transfers do not register as complete. Seems to be more of an I/O problem with the PS3, but maybe fixable with libsysfs.
  • There is a limit to how many times a file or folder object can be created over the runtime of the app. Might be a kernel limit and thus not fixable. The workaround is to relaunch the app.
From the Github page are the changes, to quote: Version 4.0

This is what version 3.0 should have been. However...
PlayStation VR on PC with PSVRFramework / PSVRToolbox Guide
Following the LibPSVR PSVR C Library, PlayStation 4 developer gusmanb has been working on PSVRFramework alongside PSVRToolbox... and with them zachhouseknecht put together a PlayStation VR on PC Guide for those interested! :extremelyhappy:

Download: PSVRToolboxPortable.zip (v0.4.6) / GIT

To quote: First off I would like to thank gusmanb & DerTooSoon for such a great start on not only the PSVRHack subreddit but also working on making a solution for PS VR to work (somewhat easily) with the PC.

The only problem I was continually having was finding one place with step by step installation. I understand this is hard as people's setups may vary. But I found shortly after I downloaded what I needed and read one of DerToosoon's comments I figured out the process pretty easily.

First and foremost you will need your PS VR headset and the breakout box (obviously). Setup the breakout box how you normally would - except you are taking the HDMI that would regularly go into the PS4 and plugging that into your PC's HDMI out.

Step 1. Plug the breakout box USB into your Windows PC. Windows will attempt (and fail) to find drivers for most of the breakout box functionality aside from an audio driver.

Step 2. Download (if you haven't already) both PS VR Framework as well as libusb-win32. You need both of these to properly interface (easily) with the PS VR headset. I'm going to get you set up - what you do after is of your own accord.

Step 3A. Run libusb's "install-filter-win" that is appropriate for your system - there are options for amd64, ia64, and x86. Select "Install a Device Filter". You will be selecting "vid:054c pid:09af rev:0107 mi:05" USB Input Device" and then hitting install. Make sure you select that device - there are numerous devices titled similarly - don't make the same mistake I did the first time!

Step 3B. Make sure both "libusb0.dll" and "libusb0.sys" are in your...
Embers of Mirrim PS4 Trailer, Heads to PlayStation 4 This Spring
In Embers of Mirrim on PS4, an ancient power forges together two distinctly different creatures into one versatile hero charged with restoring peace and balance to the world... and it's heading to PlayStation 4 this Spring! :kitty:

Below is the official teaser trailer video, and to quote from Creative Bytes Studios Project Director Paul Caporicci:

As you can see in the teaser trailer, Embers of Mirrim is an adventure-platformer featuring a powerful creature, Mirrim, with the ability to split into light and dark entities called Embers. As Mirrim, you can explore the dramatic landscape using opposing Embers to affect creatures and relics in the world in exciting and unexpected ways.

The Light and Dark Embers are independently controlled by the left and right analog sticks and offer new ways to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and traverse through the world. While developing the mechanic, we found it satisfying to seamlessly transition back and forth between the traditional platforming and dual stick flight!

While working on the game, we were heavily inspired by games where you were always doing different things, like in the Uncharted or Rayman series. We mixed the splitting mechanic with traditional elements like classic platforming, puzzle-solving, boss battles, and intense chases.

Our story follows the plight of two proud races who must set aside their differences and come together… literally. As Mirrim, you carry the unique abilities of both races in a fight against an alien infection corrupting your beloved planet. Save your friends and unify forces to restore balance to the world.

Mirrim’s journey will take you from a thawing mountain to an aging forest. The characters and environments were influenced by our love of 80’s fantasy movies like The NeverEnding Story and The Dark Crystal. No adventure game would be complete without a variety of hidden secrets which are scattered throughout the world for you to discover!
Watch Dogs 2 PS4 Digital Download for Free via Glitch from Goku76
Today NGU's goku76 shared how you can currently get the full Watch Dogs 2 PS4 digital download for free due to a glitch he discovered that is outlined below! :bananaman3:

To quote: Recently Ubisoft released the TRIAL version of the FULL watch dogs 2. You're able to play the first 3 hours of WD2 as you please.

After doing some messing around I was able to glitch the game into giving me the full version of the WATCH DOGS 2.

Note:

You will NOT be able to use online after the first 3 hours have expired as this glitch will not work. You will also NOT be able to turn off your ps4. Reset mode is fine (As it suspends the applications and resumes them upon next startup).

Instructions:
  • Download the trial from the PlayStation Store
  • Play for up to however long you want
  • When it says you have 30 mins remaining close the application
  • Go over to the settings and uncheck your Internet option so it has no way of connecting to the Internet
  • Go to the date/time option, uncheck the Internet time selection and change the time to 1 hour back
  • Restart your PS4
  • Start Watch Dogs 2
  • Play until it asks you to purchase the full game
  • Press "X" for BUY NOW and your game should continue from where you left off
Features:
  • Watch dogs 2 full game
Disadvantages:
  • No Internet connectivity
  • No multiplayer
  • No online features
  • Unable to completely turn off your PS4 which if you do will cause the game to shutdown and ask to be purchased upon next startup
  • You also can't exit to the main menu, otherwise it will ask you to purchase
Below is a video from @AmmarA1 posted HERE for those who'd like to see a demonstration of this!
Three cheers for socky aka @SockNastez for the tipoff in the PSXHAX Shoutbox! :bananaman5:
How to Increase Your PlayStation 4 Download Speed with Video Demo
Update: How To Improve Connection Speed on PS4 Tutorial by RemoteSenses, to quote:

Steps:
  • Go to "Settings".
  • Go to "Network".
  • Go to "Set Up Internet Connection"
  • Select Wifi/LAN depending on what you use to connect.
  • Select "Custom".
  • IP Address Settings = Automatic
  • DHCP Host Name = Do Not Specify
  • DNS Settings = Manual
    • Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
    • Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
  • MTU Settings: Automatic
  • Proxy Server: Do Not Use
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are a Google DNS server from what I understand, and using those has helped a ton of people with their speed, HOWEVER, those did NOT help me. Try it. If it doesn't work, I'd recommending downloading Namebench, which is a program that checks for the best DNS server for your connection. It takes 5-10 minutes to run and will then tell you the best DNS servers to use.

Preface:

After buying my PS4 I noticed my connection speed was extremely slow compared to my connection on my PC and other devices. I would be getting 50down/4up on my PC, and around 8down/2up on my PS4. This lead to painstakingly slow downloads on my PS4. A 2GB file would take around 40 minutes which is unacceptable, especially considering digital downloads becoming more popular.

I'm aware several question-type threads about this have come up around here, but I have seen few solutions. After searching Google, I did find a solution that actually has fixed my speeds. I haven't seen a thread like this, and searched and didn't find one, but if there has been one, I apologize, but hopefully this will help people who don't know about this.

Basically, changing your primary and secondary DNS servers will usually give you speed a big increase.

I understand there are probably several different ways to do this, and several different setups, however, this worked for me. DMZ and other custom things didn't help me, but you can also try those setups.

After doing this setup, turn off your PS4, wait 5-10 minutes, and recheck your connection speed on your PS4. After doing this, I saw my speeds increase over double, to around 23down/4up.
