Following the Demo Video and updates, today PlayStation Vita developer mr.gas has hacked PSTV to remove Sony's limitation whitelisting most games as playable now on PlayStation TV.
This was accomplished through utilizing a method to write to the PS Vita filesystem alongside a PSTV whitelist patch with details below.
Download: writer.eml / list_launch_vita.dat / VitaDefilerClientUnity Install PSTV (Rejuvenate 0.3.3-beta).7z
To quote from Freakler: This trick will allow you to write files to the Vita’s filesystem! (except RO partitions, e.g: vs0)
Preparing your E-Mail app
To prepare your e-mail app so that it accepts the following method, you need to once again use the eml trick and send yourself an email with the following file writer.eml via thunderbird for example.
You should see a camera symbol. Touch it and DO NOT click OK on the appearing Error Message but simply close the e-mail app completely! Re-open the E-mail App and set up your mail account again.
How to write a file to the Vita
To write a file to the Vita’s filesystem you need to create a new e-mail on your PC and set the path you want the file to be installed as subject.
The actual file you want to write needs to be renamed to #0 or x (without any file-ending) and set as attachment. Send it to your Vita!
And if everything did work you should see a camera symbol. Touch it and DO NOT click OK on the appearing Error Message but simply close the e-mail app completely!
Note: If the path is incorrect you will receive a different error.
PSTV Whitelist Patch
Following the basic steps from above try writing this file, list_launch_vita.dat to..
ur0:game/launch/list_launch_vita.dat
..to bypass the PSTV whitelist limitation by Sony and make most games launchable!
A list of compatible games and detailed tutorials for all resulting tricks will follow soon!
From mr.gas (via hackinformer.com/forum/thread-475-post-1621.html#pid1621): How to Write Files to Vita
First you need to overwrite the the email app database by using the writer.eml, to do this send writer.eml to your email then receive it in your pstv or vita then click the image and close the app (dont click the error message)
Then re open the email app and setup your email again. now the app is ready to write files... so if you want to write a file all you want is to rename that file to #0 then attach It to the message and write the pathe you want in the subject.
For example you can try writing this file to ur0:game/launch/list_launch_vita.dat to bypass the pstv whitelist. feel free to ask.
