RetroArch QuickNES & Picodrive PS2 on PS4 Emulator Ports Arrive

Following his PGEN PS2 on PS4 Emulator Port and SMS PSP Emulator for PS4, today PlayStation 4 developer @Markus95 released via Twitter two new RetroArch PS2 on PS4 versions of the Nintendo Entertainment System emulator QuickNES and the Sega Master System / MegaDrive emulator Picodrive to enjoy your favorite retrogaming ROMs with.

To quote from the blog post on Logic-Sunrise.com, roughly translated: They are both compatible on PS4 4.05, 4.55, 4.74, 5.05 and 5.07, moreover thanks to Fltrujy (developer of PS2 versions) CDFS support: / is now functional, so you can add your own fullset if needed for each emulator.

As usual they are published without ROMs, to add them yourself, here is the procedure to follow:

• Unzip the archive Retroarch.rar
• Then decompile QuickNES.pkg and / or Picodrive.pkg with FAKE_PKG_Generator (orbis-pub-chk.exe) Password: 00000000000000000000000000000000
• In the folder Image / recover disc01.iso file
• Open this disc01.iso file with WinRAR or other
• You will find a ROMS folder for QuickNES and 2 folders MASTERSYSTEM and Megadrive for Picodrive
• Place ALL your ROMs in the corresponding folders
• Then create the iSO that you rename well disc01.iso with CDGenPS2 v3.0 / CDGenPS2_v3.0.rar (Mirror) (CDGenPS2 v2 / cdgenps2v2.zip (Mirror) per @Chaos Kid)
• Rebuild the FPKG with the new disc01.iso file including your own ROMs with the same password (00000000000000000000000000000000).

@stripnwild Faxanadu should work it's a very early game with an MMC1 mapper I will try to test tomorrow for you.

thanks @jwooh actually the supermariobros doesn't work properly either in @MasterTurkey's upload ...when you start the game it says world 1 stage 1 etc... but you start off under water and you cant swim backwards to correct the path etc.

@stripnwild up a good dump apparently mines bad, of supermariobros and faxandadu to zippy and I can replace and rebuild tonight after work.

I can confirm, you're correct stripnwild. If you don't mind testing any others? I'd be happy to redo this. That's my bad.

If you or anyone else can test some others to confirm that would be awesome. I have to leave for work in a few so I couldn't do it now anyways.

nope sorry. done with gen. You're welcome to make one yourself tho. I'll re-do nes tho, once I hear back from stripnwild... or someone else can re-up an nes one.

If someone wants to direct me to a confirmed full set for NES I'll do a full set one. otherwise I'll just correct roms based on stripnwile's finds and repack.

@steviebwoy78 unless you're ok with a MasterTurkey splash screen every time you load the genesis...?

Pico drive has too many roms with long file names, requiring renaming each individually. PS2 cd gen is not cooperating. Personally I'd just delete them... at this point I'm just going to stop for the night. If someone hasn't posted the fullset on gen md sms then eventually i will. but it means a lot of cleanup.

I'm bowing out on the PICO drive front. What a mess. The roms are all named too long, requiring wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much work. I tried. At least ya'll get a NES full set. I posted the link to a decent full set site I found above. Rest is up to the community.

If someone knows a utility for automating deleting characters off file names let me know. Otherwise, someone is welcome to do the grunt work. Go through and shorten all rom names in SMS and Genesis and I'll compile.

Could someone please explain to me the file name constraints of PS2Gen (v3.0)???? Character length, etc.

Then if possible, take a look at Advanced Renamer, and help me come up with a plan to batch the sms and genesis rom sets to work with PS2Gen????
