I tried to do it but when I go back the damn thing just shuts off.

I dont want to use spotify or music unlimited im not sure if they have foreign stuff and game music. I have a YouTube account and listen to various stuff and while I am at it, i want to be able to listen to anything off the Internet like the radio.

According to the Interwebs you should be able to use YouTube's HTML5 site linked below to play videos (music) in the background on a PS4... give it a try and let us know if it works, if not I'll do some more digging for ya ;)

https://www.youtube.com/tv

Ehhh I'm not sure how you would go about doing the above all I know is as soon as you go back to your game from the browser it shuts off regardless of whatever it maybe.

If you try to open youtube app and go back again it shuts off.

For some reason you can't I tried to hold the home button and it displays music. My mp3 does not show up either.

Spotify and music unlimited work from there.

If you do manually try to put the youtube tv address it automatically says download the app for the ps4 which I already have.

So far I have not seen any videos or small tutorials on browser music it's all Spotify, music unlimited and storage. Most videos and messages are from 2012 and 2013 nothing to date.

I hear ya, much of what I've ran across was before Sony released their PS4 YouTube app, and since its release (based on what you described) the PS4 browser now hijacks the target URL if it's going to YouTube and redirects it to their app.

Have you tried using a link shortening service (bit.ly, goo.gl, etc) that leads to a YouTube music video? For example:

Music Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k8craCGpgs
Shortened: https://goo.gl/MFStZP

Then use the shorted link in the PS4's browser in attempt to bypass the automatic PS4 YouTube App redirect?

Or another idea similar to THIS where you could try blocking Sony's PS4 YouTube App request in the router, although that would probably require using something like WireShark to capture the packets and find what to block first.

In any case, there has to be a much simpler way of playing music from YouTube on the PlayStation 4 without using their PS4 App... the quest goes on. :sneaky:

I am having doubts anything is going to work, due to the browser just closes regardless of whatever is loaded.

So any link will just get closed. Anyhow I'm just gonna have to take the videos from youtube and convert it into mp3.

Again I tried my USB with mp3 on and it did not show up.
