Formerly known under the codename Project Scarlett, today Microsoft officially announced their Xbox Series X next-generation console at The Game Awards scheduled to launch alongside Sony's PlayStation 5 during the Holiday 2020 season.
Microsoft's slogan for their next-generation Xbox Series X console reminiscent of a branded mini PC tower is Power Your Dreams, which will fit well as people fall asleep playing it.
The voice on the XSX (or perhaps the XBSX to keep the BS inside ) premiere trailer video below reminds me of this 1999 tune... talk about a blast from the past!

Here's some additional details on Xbox Series X from Microsoft's Phil Spencer, to quote:
For eighteen years and three console generations, the Xbox community has shown us the power both games and fun can have on all of us.
As we enter a new generation of gaming, we see a future where you’re instantly absorbed in your games – where worlds are even more lifelike, immersive, responsive and surprising – and where you are at the center of your gaming experience. With the new Xbox Series X, we will realize that vision.
Xbox Series X will be our fastest, most powerful console ever and set a new bar for performance, speed and compatibility, allowing you to bring your gaming legacy, thousands of games from three generations and more forward with you.
Its industrial design enables us to deliver four times the processing power of Xbox One X in the most quiet and efficient way, something that is critically important in delivering truly immersive gameplay. We also designed Xbox Series X to support both vertical and horizontal orientation. It’s bold and unique, very much like our fans around the world and the team of collaborators and innovators who built it.
The name Xbox is an expression of our deep history in gaming, our team’s unrelenting passion, and our commitment to both our fans and the future of gaming at Microsoft. It also signifies...
Like many when first seeing this, I did a double take to make sure my eyes were really seeing a PS5 game trailer... lo and behold it actually is a PlayStation 5 game trailer for the upcoming third-person fantasy looter-slasher Godfall focusing on melee combat.
Developed by Counterplay Games and published by Gearbox Publishing it's slated for a PlayStation 5 Holiday 2020 release to coincide with the official PS5 Console Launch.
After a lackluster PS4 scene riddled with useless PlayStation 4 Firmware updates, many are looking forward to transitioning to the PlayStation 5 scene over the next 12 months, and here's Counterplay Games CEO Keith Lee with more on their loot-slashing action game Godfall hitting PS5 next year to quote:
Our goal with Godfall is to reforge fantasy ARPG-style loot progression and third-person melee combat into a whole new genre: The Looter-Slasher. Namely, our game is uniquely one-part gear driven and one-part player-skill driven.
Godfall retains the desire for offense-oriented, mastery-driven combat, rewarding you with head-turning, powerful loot that then inspires your next set of character builds.
Godfall’s third-person melee combat is fluid, dynamic and interactive, embracing offense over defense. While many games these days create one-off cat-and-mouse challenges for players, we want to broaden combat encounters with enduring replayability.
In Godfall you can expect satisfying one-against-many enemy encounters along with...

Samurai fans can set aside traditions and forge a new path of the Ghost as you embark on a vast open-world adventure and wage an unconventional war for freedom in Ghost of Tsushima, which hits PlayStation 4 during Summer 2020 complete with a new PS4 trailer video! ⚔
Check it out below, and from Sucker Punch Productions Communications Manager Andrew Goldfarb to quote:
Today, we debuted a brand-new Ghost of Tsushima trailer that delves deeper into the identity our hero is forced to adopt in order to save his home: The Ghost.
While Jin starts our game as a samurai, he'll learn skills and adopt tactics that are decidedly not samurai-like, and you can get a small taste in the footage we revealed today.
In the months ahead, we'll share more about Jin, the threats he faces, the allies that help him along his journey, and what he'll have to give up to become this new kind of warrior.
As I mentioned, Ghost of Tsushima is huge – the biggest game Sucker Punch has ever made by a wide margin. Our trailer includes some quick glimpses of the vibrant, diverse open world you’ll get to explore, but we've barely scratched the surface.
I’m also happy to reveal our box art today, featuring Jin in his Ghost armor as a growing storm looms behind him. You can also get a peek at some of the gear and upgrades Jin will acquire throughout his journey, which we'll share many more details about next year.
Beyond our new trailer and box art today, we also have some brand-new Ghost of Tsushima merchandise to reveal. At the PlayStation Gear store, you'll find the first of many new pieces of merch that we'll have as we get closer to launch. (Please note: unfortunately these new items will not be available for Christmas delivery.)
