PlayStation 3 Browser Investigation for PS3 Devs by Cakehonolulu
As work began porting the PS3 WebKitSploit and PS3 Playground, @cakehonolulu let us know in the Shoutbox of a write-up he did recently Investigating the PS3 Browser on Github for PlayStation 3 developers.

Those interested can check out the article in it's entirety HERE, and to quote from it in part:

But how can we exploit PS3's WebKit engine then?

Well, that's a matter of time, you can look up on the Internet about old Webkit bugs and test if they work on the PS3, then you could craft an exploit from them. But what's the point of running unsigned code on the userland in the PS3 nowadays when Custom Firmwares are up on all the Scenes and Downgrading has become a very used technique in order to install a full-blown Custom Firmware on the PS3?

Well, there are a lot of people that can't afford a downgrader, or they don't know how to solder, or they fear that they will kill the PS3 by doing thoose things... There are a lot of reasons to research on newer PS3 models, but the first one is: Doing it for fun as past hackers did it.

Hey! Where's my TL;DR

Well, i'll resume this as much as I can: Motivated by some fellas that were porting PS4 WebKit exploits to PS3, found out that they can't work on the PS3 because Sony has (Again) failed to provide a good WebKit base by removing functionalities that are useful (In this case, TypedArrays) in the Webkit exploiting world.

PSA: Accessing Sony URLs or Updating New PS4 Removes Special Data
Recently VVildCard777 tweeted a PSA out letting those with a stock PS4 1.76 and below console who haven't updated their Firmware know not to ever allow any of THESE Sony URLs to connect to it because when they do a special piece of data in the operating system is removed. o_O

This comes after zecoxao's virgin PS4 OS backup comparison of the normal / JIG bank encrypted area inside the chunk at 0x9C0000. :geek:

Sony also removes the 'special piece of data' whenever a new PlayStation 4 console (regardless of OFW version) is updated from the stock version or accesses those URLs, however, currently scene developers are interested in those with untouched PlayStation 4 consoles on 1.76 and below.

He notes: "to those misunderstanding, the act of UPDATING a NEW PS4 OR letting those urls connect to a NEW PS4 removes the data."
Further detailing: "no you need virgin PS4, isolated on a network to access enc sflash data through FTP with a kernel exploit. ->/dev/sflash0s1.cryptx3b"
Here are the Sony PS4 Block URLs to never allow to access your stock / virgin PlayStation 4 from Paste.Ubuntu.com:

PlayStation 4 Webkit Playground 1.52 / 1.60 Firmware Ports Arrive
Following his recent PS4 Playground 1.50b Port, PlayStation 4 developer zecoxao with help from VVildCard777 added PlayStation 4 Webkit Playground 1.52 and 1.60 Firmware ports to Github today for those seeking to examine pre-2.00 OFW versions before Sony ramped up the security. :D

Download: playground-1.52-master.zip / 1.52 GIT / playground-1.60-master.zip / 1.60 GIT / PS4 Playground Live Demo / Websploit.org (Mirror)

Another PS4 Github update comes from shakugan who recently shared a WIP called PS4Misc by esc0rtd3w for those seeking to run things outside the PlayStation 4 browser.

Currently their PlayStation 4 Playground WebKit exploit forks include support for PS4 firmware 1.76 / 1.60 / 1.52 / 1.50b / 1.01 only at the moment.

As @zecoxao notes below, to quote: 1.51 playground is not possible at the moment (missing a gadget that is not on main modules) and 1.61 playground is the exact same as 1.60.

And from the PS4Misc README.md file, to quote: if u want to run stuff outside the browser:

place a loader in /data/rcved

export ps4ip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

cd function_hook make ./run.sh cd shellcore_inject make ./run.sh press home and do something like opening a non-granted pkg

at this point the 2nd loader should be running

rerun the kernel hooks outside the browser cd function_hook ./stage2.sh
Cheers to both @Bultra and @oneman123 in the...

It was & still is my first every php & html project i've ever made... So please understand and dont tell me, when the code isn't fancy enough 4 u :p I havent saw anything like this yet (beside some things using a C# Listener...).

I've simply used HTTP Requests within a SPRX which is, in my and others opinion, better than using some C# Application on the users PC. Anyway... I've created this for FREE, as of in my opinion, their is not much $$$ to get from it. That's why i will do this Project for FREE... Lets get to it, instead of let you listen to me talking about crap, nobodys interested in :fcry:

STEPS

1) Go to the WEBRTM Website and sign up/sign in... WEBRTM - Login (No email verification needed as of now, as of it is a PUBLIC Test, and i am not here to collect Data from you :X3:)

2) After you've logged in, you should be redirected to the Mainpage, which looks like this:

WEBRTM PS3 SPRX EBOOT Game Modding Project by 01cedric & Swaqq.png

You'll see all instructions on their + an additional Download to the SPRX & EBOOT :anon:

3) Follow Instructions on the Website and a Video will be uploaded and added on here shortly! So keep an eye out for it ;-)

I would like to hear suggestions of new Mods or even Games you'd like to see (-:

I will update the WEBRTM most likely daily.

Download: WEBRTM - SPRX + EBOOT

It is just a SPRX + 2 EBOOTs (BO1 & BO2) in a .zip archive!
