I will post this as a separate thread from the PS4 PKG2USB as the 2 payloads vary and it saves confusion.

Original Post: I was playing around with the ext0 mount and recreating the file structure that would be there if the pkg was installed to external storage.

There is a trick I found where if you copy the CUSAXXXXX folder from /user/app to /mnt/ext0/user/app and then unplug the hdd and plug it back in it causes the ps4 to do a repair and then the game is recognized as installed on external storage and from there there are other issues.

BUT with the great work SiSTRo has done in PKG2USB with the symlinks its a lot easier to manage with exfat and just normal USB.

So building on his PKG2USB and symlinks I modified what I was working on for the ext0 mount to work with the usb0 or usb1 and symlinks.

This payload searches the entire /user/app folder and copies all installed fpkg games to usb from the system drive and creates the symlinks like SiSTRo has kindly shown us the ability to do.

If you want to target a single game not the whole folder use PKG2USB.

If you install more games just run the payload again and it will copy any new games to the USB and so on.

With symlinks you are making a link to a directory so you want to pick which USB port to have the hdd on and keep it on that same port or the links will point to the wrong directory. USB0 is what I use.

Thanks again to SiSTRo, xVortex, Anonymous, CelesteBlue!

i prefer to keep games that require updates in internal but like if you understand whats going on the ps4 doesn't really know the difference. It's pretty much up to u where you want data

well pretty much all games have an update at some point. I'm just wondering if there is a way to install the updates (as they come in) to the EXTERNAL base game

@stripnwild I would imagine you first install the game in internal, then update (in internal) then link the app.pkg (which only the main game have I think) to the external. I don't think the patch have app.pkg, and @stooged tool only link the main (app.pkg) to external. But again @stooged may clarify here?

@stooged
I have test external 4TB USB Drive and Internal 4Tb Hardisk Drive, with your tool all my games i have symlinks form internal Drive to External USB Drive, is working very nice (y)

On Ps4 , Settings, Systemstorage i have ONE Drive with 6,4TB, the Internal and External are married, right?

If i change the USB Drive with more space and i copy all my games on it from old USB Drive , i know the games are working from new USB Drive on PS4,
but then the new drive is married? because on PS4 it was mountet the old drive on USB Port?

It is possible to make back the symlink on internal to change the USB Drive for more Space?

yeah I noticed if you use multiple usb hd that are similar to like your linked one issues can occur. Seems to do with having them plugged in at boot or using a hub.

What I would like to do ideally one day is take like a pro with 500gb or 1tb and attach an 8tb usb hd and just like keep running app2usb as I keep filling the internal. It will be tedious. This is something I am unclear about. Do you need a matching internal drive for your external? Or would this app allow this? I reason it would but not sure.

the type of usb hdd does not really matter, it needs to have the free space for the games you are moving to it.
I guess the ps4 will need to be able to support the size of the drive too, a 10tb drive might work but I don't have one handy to test.

you can change the usb hdd so if you start with a 2tb one then find you need more space just copy all the files from the old drive into the new drive and as long as you keep the directory structure the same (PS4\CUSAXXXXX) it will still work because the symlink is on the internal hdd not the external.

As far as my tests go, the type of hdd doesn't matter. I've already linked games to 4 different hdd's, transfered 1tb to a bigger hdd and they all worked fine.

Not really sure if it was this or not but when I rebooted my PS4 crashed on startup and now I'm stuck at "Cannot start the PS4.". Reinstall time. Maybe one should reboot without the External HDD plugged in and plug it in after? Ahh well, sucks, should have backed up all my saves. RIP Hundreds of hours in Tales of. :fcry:

Can someone help me? I explain: the copy of the pkg games installed from the internal hard disk to the external one works well. I moved to test Megam Collection (CUSA02516) and I set the ini file like this:

To check the usb root for the pkg file to save the current copy of the ps4 drive then uncomment the line below.
but remember this will move the pkg from the root directory to the PS4 folder.
// CHECK_USB

Not to be ignore then uncomment the line below.
MODE_MOVE

Example ignore or move usage.

CUSA02516

Now, to save time, I would like the copy of a single pkg (in this case megamen collection) heap directly from the root of the external hard disk to the PS4 folder (previously created on the external hard disk with the ini file inside).

How do I modify the ini file? I put the pkg in the root of the external hard disk, from the ini file I only removed the 2 // in CHECK_USB. I inserted the hard disk in ps4, I started the payload and after a while I see that it starts to make a copy of all the pkg installed on the internal hard disk. I want it to copy only that game and not everyone. Where am I wrong?
