Recently @stooged lent a hand sharing both details with source code on Backing Up and Restoring the PS4 Database, and he followed up with a handy DbBackup.bin Payload compiled for PS4 4.05 OFW users to backup their PlayStation 4 database to a USB Drive alongside one for dumping save data below.

Download: DbBackup.zip / Source Code / DB_SG_Backup.zip (8.79 KB - dumps save data into a folder called GameSaves) / DB_SG_Backup_v2.zip (8.27 KB - Dumps All User Accounts) / DB_SG_Backup3.zip (8.82 KB - Adds Notification Messages from 2much4u) / DB_Backup_455.zip (Updated for 4.55) / usb_455_db_backup.zip (0.02 MB) / Cache-Install: ApplicationCache.db / DB_SG_Backup-50X (Latest) / GIT

To quote from his recent post with usage instructions:

just put a usb stick/drive into the usb port and run the DbBackup.bin payload

it will save the addcont.db and app.db files inside a folder called DB_Dackup on the usb drive.

if you do not use a usb stick/drive it will backup the database into the /system_data/priv/mms/ folder on the ps4 and it will be called app.db_backup.

to restore the db just ftp into the /system_data/priv/mms/ directory and upload your backup copy.

credit to @XVortex for the neat way to check which usb port has the drive in it in their ps4dumper source, I tried a few other things with no decent result but @XVortex had a simple method to do the trick :)

I updated from 4.05 to 4.55 and i didn't lose any game or save and everything is working normally...

The only difference from 4.05 to 4.55 is:
- Using HEN or other payload fail a lot .
- Rest mode work well now, no more fail.

Hello,

I'm not sure to be at good location but... I delete my saves and games data on my 4.05 ps4 with debug settings (thought it was for only one game). I would like to know if there is a way to recover it (no database backup) or a location on the ps4 file system where I can find them with the ftp server ?

Thanks in advance...

For all using any exploits to run backups on the ps4 *DO NOT USE REBUILD DATABASE* it will delete all the game backups only leaving behind gamesave data. I think this warning should be exercised more because if anyone ever had a ps3 on cfw this was an issue but wouldn't delete games just custom themes or anything related to the .db

I do this for play games from usb ;)

Hey, how to know the proccees? I mean i send the payload successes, but how i know if it beckup succeess to isb or not?

as i said in the apptousb thread it would be nice if this backed up the symlinks too then a ps4 crash/rebuild database can be put right easy without installing anything again

also a payload to install everything back would be a nice touch too, You can also take your games to a friends house this way and have em installed on his ps4 to play instantly, Obviously ive not tried this and im not sure how the user data will be corrupted on another ps4

Edit i just thought maybe the apptousb payload can reinstall the missing symlinks from the replaced appDB ?
