Discussion of Theories for Newer PS4 Games on 4.05 Firmware

Following the recent PS4 Barthen Method for getting newer games running with PS4HEN, some forum members including @SkysTheLimit, @Goldenboy22 and @Picalo would like to open a discussion of theories on how newer PlayStation 4 game dumps can become playable on exploited 4.05 Firmware consoles.

We'll use this as an ongoing discussion thread for those who'd like to share their insight and research into getting newer PS4 games with Minimum Firmware Versions above 4.05 OFW dumped and running, which according to Mathieulh is currently the BEST PS4 Firmware to be on as 1.76 is now considered outdated since the 4.05 exploit chain from SpecterDev with popular 4.05 exploit forks and experiments by IDC alongside the PS4 Exploit Host by Al Azif.

the webkit one seems legit, as it has been on for almost a year and the discussion in the issues section is interesting. it does seem like the other one is BS though, especially when one of the lines is "Fixed All Bugs, Preparing for Release Today!".

when you try to run the game you will get the permission error.
You can patch out these error, but you ll stuck on next error and so on.
unfortunately I do not know if there are enough keys for unpacking pfs on 4.05,
am interested in to know this too.

Sony change keys only in major firmware revision and the tools used to compile the game. So till 4.50 minimum, keys should be the same and present in samu in 4.05. The problem is that Samu check the header of the eboot and if the firmware required is higher than internal version in samu, the chip doesn't decrypt.

I'm asking a question, maybe Russian version of HZD was meant for 4.05? why other 4.05+ aren't release yet ? maybe it's just a Russian joke to let us think of a 4.05+ exploit.

Just a quick thought. Since HZD min. FW is 4.07,is it possible that the eboot.bin need a fw < 4.07?

The game was developed far before 4.07, which is only a update to patch the 4.05 exploit. So they could have only changed the fw in param.sfo. Which should be, if you have no hacked ps4, enough to stop you from running it.

Since we can spoof the kernel fw, which allows us to bypass the param.sfo check, this protection is not bothering us.

I think one of the main things that will help this, is to devise a way to run the Encrypted PSN PKGs and dump their files. I know it's probably not possible in the near future, but one can hope!

If the game was initially created for 4.05, and then they wanted to change the minimum required fw version, why change just the param.sfo? I do not think it would have been a problem for developers to modify also the other files for a few bytes.
