Following their Linux recent progress of the PS4 Running Vulkan, today Sony PlayStation 4 hacker Marcan of Fail0verflow tweeted that he started a PS4 Overlay GIT to make things easier to install PS4-specific Gentoo Portage patched packages and firmware. :D

Download: ps4-overlay-master.zip / GIT / PS4 Overlay for Gentoo GIT / gentoops4april.tar.xz (1.98 MB) / gentoops4kdebeta3.tar.xz (1.75 GB) / gentoops4kdebeta4.tar.xz (1.60 GB) / gentoops4kdebetaV.tar.xz (2.62 GB) / gentoops4kdebeta6.tar.xz (3.04 GB) / gentoops4kdebeta7.tar.xz (3.40 GB)

It wasn't 5 years it was 3 years "mid 2010" coz after a couple of months Anonymous hacked Psn in 2011. So it wasn't long now its been 4 years+ and theres no progress back then it was worse coz CELL was a complex cpu and now we only have x86 which is familiar....
It's nearly ps3 hacked 5 years because ps3 released end of 2006
And ps3 jailbreak dongle released mid 2010... But 1st geohotz custom firmware released January-5-2011 that means 1st ps3 CFW nearly 5years may be we wait for 1more year next year chances to CFW...

ps3 was hacked thanks to the service dongle otherwise it would take more time for cfw if any

ps4 is pc/x86-64 architecture (not cell) so much easier to hack but all are scared to release :(

Am I wrong?
You said 5 years for exploit no cfw , it's much difference , btw first cfw 4.01.2011 , premiere of ps3 : March 2007 in europe , so it took about 4 years (full jailbreak)

You aren't alone I'm sure. :D

Once a PS4 backup manager is released and the backups scene explodes most people will go back about their normal lives as long as new games work and care less who got Linux running or any of that... sad but true, except for the few who are against saving money on games or actually bought a PS4 in hopes to run Linux on it.
