This is a user-friendly tutorial on how to play your favorite PlayStation 2 games on your jailbroken PlayStation 4 as can be seen HERE. I am not going to go into specifics here; but if you need help or have a question, feel free to reply and I will answer.

1. Download the ps2emu.rar and Fake PKG Tools_1v1.rar (look above)
2. Extract both archives (as you would...)
3. Put your favorite PlayStation 2 game ISO in the ps2emu\image\ folder
4. Rename the iso to 'disc01.iso' (the emulator can take multiple discs, but this is more advanced and you have to specify things in lua or the command line arguments)
5. Go to sce_sys and edit 'param.sfo' with 'orbis-pub-sfo.exe'
a. Change content ID to (UP9000-CUSAXXXXX_00-SCUS974900000001) where XXXXX is any string of numbers
b. The content ID can be somewhat random, but has to be in the enforced format. Who really cares what you do, but the original emulated game (Rogue Galaxy) was like this and I just decided to change the title ID portion.
c. Go to Title Text tab and change the text to the title of your game (ex. Ratchet & Clank, Crash Bandicoot)
6. Save the param.sfo
7. In Fake PKG Tools, rename 'orbis-pub-cmd-ps2.exe' to 'orbis-pub-cmd.exe' (delete or rename original 'orbis-pub-cmd.exe')
8. Open 'orbis-pub-gen.exe'
9. Double click on 'Image0' (we are going to add the files from ps2emu, including disc01.iso/disc0X.iso)
10. Drag and drop all the files from ps2emu into the Image0 Root (right side is files, left is directory view)

Drag.png Drop.png
11. Go to the chunk tab and assign all files to Chunk #0

Assign all files.png
12. Exit Image Settings view
13. Goto Command -> Project Settings -> Package

Package.png
a. Paste in your content ID that you put in your param.sfo
b. Generate a passcode (or use IvBkwybGjpTdC1uijHBWbQR-XSFXgKqc because I am using it for everything)
c. Change Application Type (at the bottom) to Freemium App
14. Click build, select output directory. Click build?
15. If you get the error, "Could not create system file. sce_discmap.plt"
- Hit close, double click Image0, try to reasign Chunks (you should have already)
- Then try to build again. I think this is some sort of glitch?
16. Have fun playing your favorite PlayStation 2 games!

You can decompile eboot.bin and see all the command line options for the emulator.
I also recommend changing --ps2-title-id in 'config-emu-ps4.txt' for consistency sake (but who cares?).

If there are an problems with my tutorial, please notify me!

Just wondering if I'm missing a step or if the emulators just not very stable at this point.

I have tried all the Ratchet & Clank games but none of them work. Just a black screen after the initial intro cut scene. Black screen also on Crash Nitro Kart and some others. They all black screen. Apart from one game which works okay which is Heatseeker. So I'm missing something or is it just hit or miss that you will be lucky and find a game that works?

Some games have bugs when running on the emulator, and we need to work on configuring the emulator to solve these bugs. The emulator has options as far as even editing memory in real time or hooking functions in lua to solve issues with PS2 titles. PCSX2 for the PC does similar stuff to get games running.

Ratchet & Clank - Going Commando (USA) works
Ratchet & Clank - Up Your Arsenal (USA) works
Ratchet & Clank - Size Matters (USA) works

Ratchet & Clank (USA) freezes
Ratchet - Deadlocked (USA) freezes

That is with settings I included with the emulation package.

Well I didn't try those. I tried all 4 versions of Ratchet & Clank 1 and the EU version of 2, 3, & 4. I guess il give the US ones a shot then. Thanks.

Yes, the external hdd should be on... then access the debug menu. It uses usb drives/external hdds that use usb that are formatted to exfat or fat32.
Thanks for answering my question. But I got some more. Should we activate HEN first before running the pkg installed game? And can we update the game with patches from sony or decrypted pkg is not compatible with encrypted patch?

If I already have the disc for that game, can I just install the pkg directly without deleting the game data in the internal hard drive? I'm concern about my old save files that's why I don't wanna touch the game data.

For you'all guys here... The system grabs an icon0 perfectly if you put it in the sce_sys folder. The image format is 512x512 in 24 bit depth png (no alpha channel).

The PKG wont run without a homebrew enabler. I do not know if offical patches will work. I think your save data will become corrupted, if it is the same content id.

Hey, i tried this with hitman silent assassin 2 v3.00 iso file, the game opens and intro cutscene plays.. but it freezes at loading screen... any solution?

What about the PSP or the PS1 emulation? There are Star Ocean games only available in Japan, SO: First Departure and SO2: Second Evolution. As far as I know these are the PSP versions of these games, so is there a way to make other (let's say) PSP games running?
